Sorry to hear that. We raise goats and this is only our second year kidding (first year doing multiple does) and so far we've been lucky that we haven't lost any of the little ones. Though we did lose a young one last year. We only had her a few weeks and she just didn't do well with the move (the people that we got her from hadn't had her long either and they got in a financial bind and sold all of the Toggenburgs - we bought all of 4 them). We tried everything we knew to take care of her. Thought she was getting better, then one Sunday morning I went out and she just had the look on her face that she was a gone. Monica took her to the vet Monday morning, he basically said the same thing that we already knew (Cocci) and gave us a little strong medicine and I picked some additional medicine recommended by him (at Monica's suggestion) from PBS on my way home. She was dead Tuesday morning. I took PTO and used the tractor to dig a hole for her. My daughter then made a cross for her and painted her name and birth and death dates on it. Not sure how she will do with our first two goats that are her babies when something happens to them (they are only two, so hopefully it'll be awhile) or when something happens to a new born. I think that'll be really rough.
