Can't wait to get it. I would appreciate any safety tips, since my land is pretty hilly.

I know the FEL load should be kept at front axle level or less when traveling. Mow hills up and down? What other tips?

NH has discontinued the Boomer 8N. They're now calling them collector tractors:)

Is that because the collector comes to get the monthly payment, and takes the tractor instead?

I love the look of those tractors. Congratulations on your buy!

As for tips, do some reading in the owning operating and safety forums, there's tons of stuff there. If you have hilly land, be VERY careful of driving with a load across a slope (or even without a load in the FEL). Use the rops and the seat belt.

Man I love the look of that tractor!

Smart move on New Holland's part.......discontinue them, now everyone will want one, and they sell off all the stock that is sitting on the lots right now.

Does NH have a comparable Blue version...ie; with same drive train and electronics? Not too many of the new 8Ns in the market to justify much part support for the long term if there are not other models using the same parts??

Your thoughts?

BTW...don't think the "collector" tag will work...prices will likely weaken a bit??

NH has no current blue models with this power train and with New Holland's move from ISM as their compact tractor manufacturer to LS it's unlikely that they ever will.
I believe NH only built 500 Boomer 8Ns. It's an advanced tractor and I think you're going to see some very good prices to move them out this year.

There are several on this site who have the CVT transmission(in blue and red(Case)), mostly with cabs. It is my understanding that it is the same underlying machine as the 8N.

the Boomer 3040 and Boomer 3045 have the CVT transmission. Most of these units come with the super suite cab. Same drive line as the Boomer 8N

they have closed the Dublin GA assembly plant where these units where assembled. I look for this CVT technology to be found for sometime in the CNH system. Fiat already has this CVT tractor in Europe for some time under different name.

I've written before how much I like my Boomer 8N, especially the CVT! While blowing snow you can creep along very slow, but when driving on the road it will go over 21 mph.......handy when going from my place to the farm. I am happy with my purchase, I think I would have been disappointed with a smaller compact, with all the snow we've had this winter a 7' blower on a 50hp tractor has sure been useful!
Anyone know for sure how many Boomer 8N's were made? I've heard anywhere from 500 to 800, and at one time they planned on making 2000.

Thanks Chris...do any have the same electronic "modules"...is there actually the same 50HP tractor out there under a blue...or other color...tractor? ie; same engine/drivetrain/electronics??

With a universe of 500-800? units...would like a larger base of tractors for repair parts support?

Thanks...TMR

That's too bad about the Dublin, GA plant - there were 50 - 100 jobs lost. That was just an assembly plant, though - the component parts were brought in and assembled there.

I have seen no news that is the end of the Boomer 8N. They could be assembled at any Boomer assembly plant. Don't worry about parts, though. A company like CNH would not allow a model to become an orphan without repair parts - think what it would do to their corporate image. I suspect that below the paint color, we are looking at a 3040 with CVT.

Just heard week before last that our local dealer here sold two of the 8N Boomers over a two year period .... and they both were brought back. Something about the transmission set up wasn't popular with the buyers.

It sounds like New Holland won't do a special edition again soon.

If any of you 8N Boomer owners have facebook, you should join the New Holland 8N Boomer page. There's a few pictures posted (I got most of them from here) It might be a place where we can help each other with info re: our tractors. Maybe there's someone out there wishing they had the chrome roll bar and you could trade?

New Holland must have given some kind of special incentive to move those units out. I was at my dealer this week finalizing a deal on a FEL for my 1720 and he told me that he was going to move his 8N in the showroom for 25K. I thought that was a tremendous buy until I saw that steal of a deal on Tractor House for 24K with the loader. Heck of a lot of tractor for that $$$.

I wrote New Holland corporate to ask if the Boomer 8N had been discontinued. According to the reply, there is no indication it will be discontinued. The reply added that, if any models are discontinued, parts and service are guaranteed for at least ten years.

Seems like the ten year mark is where I would start to need the repair parts, eh?

The running gear - the engine and CVT transmission - are components and will be continued in other models.

But what if I break one of those fancy lights? Or scratch my damned chrome roll bar?
