Ok, so I had a BH70 backhoe added to my Kubota B2601 since I have so many digging projects. It may be my imagination, but it feels like I have lost some lifting power from FEL in terms of lifting power. I feel like when I reached max lift before the engine would bog a little but I don't get any bog now - it just refuses to lift or curl if I'm trying to lift too much or take too big of a bite. Is it my imagination or does adding a BH like this have a tendency to do this? I'm going to call the dealer and ask but I'm sure they will tell me it is my imagination.

Have you checked your hydraulic level since installing your BH. If the BH runs off of your tractors hydraulics and it circulates fluid when connected, it is possible that your pump capacity becomes limited in the volume it can pump/supply to the entire system including your BH.
Also if the BH and lines for it required enough fluid, it is possible the pump is not getting the supply it needs—this can damage a pump quickly if air gets in the system.
One more concern, if the BH contained old possibly dirty fluid, as that fluid mixed with your tractors fluid and flowed to your common reservoir, you could have a blocked screen preventing the pump from getting sufficient fluid flow.
Start with checking the level of the fluid. Next try to drain a bit of fluid from the reservoir (yes much easier said than done) then filter it through a cloth to look for debris.
Have you removed the BH? How does the FEL respond without the BH connected?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll check the fluid again tonight. I did right after the dealer put it on but there's always that chance they didn't cycle it enought to get all the air out. Remove the backhoe and dig is a good suggestion. I'll do that next before anything major labor-intensive. Tractor has less than 100 hours on it and the BH was brand new so very unlikely to be dirty fluid/clogged screen.

Well I would tend to agree with less than 100 hrs and a new BH dirty fluid issues should not be present.
But that raises the low fluid question even higher, there are lots of hoses and several cylinders on a BH, thus lots of air pocket potential. It all should self bleed.
Good luck on it.

Noose, if you are still watching this thread, can you add BH70 to a B2601 "later" or is it something the machine needs to be ordered with? I'm ordering a B2601, dont need or want the BH now, but would like the option to do it later...

Other than the dedicated Kubota TLB model offerings, all Kubota backhoes can be added at the dealership either at the time of original purchase or after.

Good to know I can add it after instead of biting the bullet now, I appreciate the help Rick!

You will find an after delivery add will cost considerable more than one ordered delivered with the BH.

Ron

Is this only if the dealer does the install? If you have to pay them to transport the tractor to the shop, do the install, and deliver back then I can totally see that being true.

I'd like to think that the dealer could load the "crated" backhoe and subframe on your trailer and just complete the install yourself at home to actually save considerable $.
