New B7800HSD w/ FL and 60\" MMM

Hello everyone,
I am new to Kubota and my new B7800HSD with front loader and 60"
mid-mount mower deck. I have been using the 7800 to mow my 5 acres which is too hilly for a ZTR mower and requires running the tractor in 4WD continuously. I am new to tractor in general also and wish my dealer would have recommended fluid filling the rear tires for ballist, especially if I move anything with the front loader.

One of my questions regarding the tractor is according to the manual you are not supposed to run the tractor hard, drive at full speed during the first 50hr of use, or run for extended periods of time.
Well it takes 4hr to mow my property and I have to run the tractor at about 2600rpm for it to power along up the hills and mow with good results. Also any recommendations for maintenance fluids other than Kubota OEM filters and fluids. I plan to do the more routine maintenance myself as I am mechanically able.

Thanks,
David

yes if you have the FEL and no weight in the back I'd get the tires filled or weight box. I was sticking with the kubota filters till out of warranty anyway, just one less reason they could give me trouble on warranty if problem comes up. Some will tell you you do not need to breakin, run full PTO from start.
I know 50hrs long time, I just kept RPM's down some for 1st 10hrs or so, after 30 i was going full PTO at times if i needed it. Maybe cut in 1st gear for the 1st couple time if you want to really adhear to the breakin period. As I said I'd just keep it RPMS down 1st couple timeas anyway. You could even break the 4hr cuts into 2 2hrs cuts the 1st couple times. Going to be hard to get a definitive answer on breakin. Mostlikely whatever you decied you'll be ok on the breakin.

Re: New B7800HSD w/ FL and 60\" MMM

I have the exact same setup you have. During the break-in period I tried not to run about 2100 rpms. After the first 50 hours, I then stepped up the rpms. Most of my mowing is gently rolling hills or flat. If I was to mow steep hills, I would be mowing in low range for the first 50 hours on those hills. I've noticed on mine when mowing in 4X4 just don't turn the wheels real sharp or it digs in and doesn't feel quite right.
I would definitely stay with Kubota products all the way. It would be a shame to spend that kind of money on a nice machine and then skimp on the maintenance. The products seem pricey but really aren't that bad because it's not like you are changing the oil everyday. I have just under 350 hours on my 7800 and have had 0 problems that were not caused by me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
I would get the rears loaded too. Even with my rears loaded and my tiller on the back, the rear still feels a little light at times with the bucket loaded up. If you have no animals, go with anti-freeze and water mixture.
Good luck and have fun!

Re: New B7800HSD w/ FL and 60\" MMM

My B7800 with FEL and subframe backhoe came with filled rear tires. I drained them, because the machine was too heavy and sinking into the soft soil.
If I were mowing with the B7800, I would want it to be a light as possible. I suggest adding a 3pt weight box when using FEL. Another suggestion from a construction friend is keep the weight box low.

I, too, have your exact same set-up.

Every time I get on TBN, I'm amazed at what folks say these little workhorses will do. Best little tractor made (for the price, IMHO).

I use the FEL w/o the MMM (usually) but WITH the BEFCO 72" Rear Blade in "reverse" / fully extended position. The BEFCO also gets a "thumbs up", BTW.

Just rebuilt the drive with gravel / aggregate -- WAY heavy loads on the bucket. Only felt "light" once when I got sideways on a hill. (Uh, not smart...)

Hey -- it's a B7800 -- it's light & tight; a glorified lawn-mower. Just go slow.

...only my $0.02...

Be safe,

mlg
