New B3030 - my first post to Owner\'s Forum!

I received my B3030 a couple weeks ago from Messick's (thanks Neil!!) and am finally getting around to posting. Here is what I got, with my thoughts on each after 10 hours of use.

1. B3030 tractor - Very glad I got the B3030 over the B7800. Three of my tractor owner neighbors (B7800, L-series, and NH24DA) have looked it over thorough and are particularly impressed with the overall control layout, rear 3ph positioning foldable ROPS, and telescoping 3ph. The B7800 owner says it takes him about 30 minutes to get his bush hog on his, and the second time I put mine on I did it in 10, all because of the telescoping feature.

2. ATI grapple (bolted on to bucket) I will do a separate post with pictures of the great install job Messick's did on this. The grapple operates off a diverter on the bucket curl/uncurl, with a button on the end of the joystick that controls it. It's easy to use and intuitive, and I love it love it love it. A pile of brush that would've taken me an hour to haul to my burn pile, I picked up in one grab and moved in about 3 minutes AND NEVER HAD TO TOUCH ANY OF IT. I had very high expectations for what I could do with the grapple, and so far, it has met them.

3. Bucket Teeth - also glad I invested in this. Dug up a bunch of small stumps and levelled some pass thru areas in a tree line i cleared. I seriously doubt I would've gotten any kind of penetration into this hard clay Virginia dirt without the teeth. The teeth also give me a bit more bite when using the grapple.

4. Work lights - I'll admit it, the work lights I wanted primarily because I thought they would look cool, but I ended up working in the dark the other night scooping up clippings. If you do any kind of fel work, the standard headlights all but USELESS, and the grapple on there only makes it worse. All you get is glare (especially if your bucket is still shiny new) I ended turning the headlights off and just using the worklights and could see MUCH better. And having one front and one rear facing is also fantastic, again especially when doing FEL work. I would consider the worklights an absolute NECESSITY if you plan to do anything in low light conditions.

5. Heavy Duty Alternator - I really don't know if I needed this, but I got it. I can say that the lights do not dim AT ALL under any conditions no matter what RPM and/or load the engine is under.

6. Woods rear blade - The blade was almost an afterthought, but I've already used it several times and I am very impressed with how well constructed the Woods unit is, especially its variety of adjustments and replaceable blade. It also makes for a more manuevarable rear ballast piece than the brush-cutter. Glad I bought it.

7. Woods 5' brush cutter - I mowed 8 acres in about 4.5 hours and was not rushing. Another very heavy-duty well-engineered piece of equipment.

Thanks to all who offered their opinions on the questions I posted in the buying forums. Glad to be here amongst the owners!!

Re: New B3030 - my first post to Owner\'s Forum!

I also am the owner of a new B3030. Love the tractors features. I also have a 1983 B7100 that I purchased new. The B7100 appears to be built to old day standards. While it doesn't have the features of the B3030 I think it will run forever. My vote is still out on the B3030. Not happy at all with the vibrations in the B3030.

Have you noticed any vibration with the tractor operating in the 2000 rpm range?

Man, that is a nice setup, the ATI Grapple attachment and your toothbar for the bucket sure do change things allot for the better. You will get many years of hard work out that piece of equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I read some of the other posts about B3030 vibrations, and mine seems to suffer from the same symptoms at all RPMs. I'm waiting to see what happens once the tractor has some more hours on it and/or Kubota comes out with some kind of TSB on it. In the meantime, I don't really consider it a serious problem.

I tried I tried. I took a bunch of pictures of the grapple setup, but I used 1024x768 which apparently creates JPGs too large to attach. I'm either going to re-take the pictures at a lower resolution or crop the ones I already have.

Re: New B3030 - my first post to Owner\'s Forum!

It is very easy to change the size of the images. Here is what I recommend: Go to this site and download IrfanView. It is a free image editing program. One you have it installed, you can use it to change your JPGs around. When you have the image you want opened with IrfanView, go to the Image menu and click Resize/Resample. In the Set New Size area type in the new size. Both the width and height will automatically be sized proportionately. I would recommend a size of 640 x 480 (or 800 x 600 if the file is small enough (more on that later)). Click ok. Now you are ready to save the image. I would recommend choosing a different name than the one for the original image. Click File - Save As. In the Save As Type drop down box choose JPG - JPEG Files. Type in your new file name in the File Name area. At the top, choose a location you can remember in the Save In drop down field. In the Save Options box to the right choose a Save Quality of about 50 or so. This is the JPG compression. The higher the number (best), will mean lower compression but bigger file sizes. The lower the number (lowest) will mean smaller file sizes (more compression) but the image won't look as good. I find 50 to be a decent compression setting. Next, you can make sure you are under the 100kb limit on the forums by finding your newly edited photo and right clicking on it. Choose Properties. In the Size field or Size On Disk field, it should have a reading of 100k or less. Also, if you want better image quality or larger photos, you can start a TBN Photo Gallery in the Photos section of the site. You are allowed images up to 500kb with a max alotted space of 5mb. Hope this helps. Now post them photos. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: New B3030 - my first post to Owner\'s Forum!

Good choice, I look forward to see those pics. I have a B3030 too (vibration too) but I'm happy with it. After 50 hours, the vibration is still there.

Enjoy

If you have problems with pictures drop me a line. I took some beauty shots of your grapple setup to show off before dropping off your tractor.

Just wondering if anyone from MessikFarmEqu could offer any thoughts regarding the B3030 vibration discussion.
