I joined the Cub Cadet Club yesterday. I bought a 2007 SLT 1550 with 68 hours on it for $1500. I greased it and put a light sharpening on the blades this morning.
I've been shopping since my friend/neightbor bought an LT 1045. He has cut my 2 acre yard for me a couple times because he wanted more grass to cut (he loves his). His tractor did such a great job cutting.
I had an 8 year old 46" Craftsman Hydro GT. It was a $2500. tractor made with a $5. deck. With a brand new deck, spindle bearings and blades it cut like crap! you could see where every blade went accross the yard and the deck clogged with grass. It threw grass all over me and my right side got real dirty with every use. I sold it, running perfectly, for $400. and am still glad to get rid of it!
I had 4" of rain over the weekend and my yard is a bog right now. I did cut around the house and this thing cuts perfectly, even with the grass very wet. I will have to wait a few days for the rest of the yard.
I'm just wondering how much gas the 25hp Kohler will use.

I do like Craftsman GT's, but you're right. The cut quality isn't great with the ~50". 3yrs later and I still get compliments on the cut quality from my 44" Cub. You'll burn just over 1gal/acre with your Kohler Command. I get 1gal/acre out of my 20hp.
