No, it isn't another printer, although my buying one kind of started this.

My old HP 3180 all-in-one printer quit working after a Win 10 update. Turned out, the hard drive failed on my Dell, but I got it started. The Win 10 update had not finished, but my printer install was somehow mushed. Bought another printer, figuring my old printer would not work with the update (not knowing the update had not finished). New printer would not work from the Dell but would from the wife's and my iPad.

Called in a computer guy. He found the bad sectors on the hard drive and found that Win 10 had not finished.

On borrowed time with the Dell, so I went online shopping. The only decent computer I could find fairly quickly was an HP all-in-one (AIO) f0034 at Bestbuy. Got it the next day.

Went through **** with the Office 365 install. Won't tell that story unless others are interested.

HP would not turn back on after a long sleep. Went to HP support and did all they said to do. It woke up this morning, no problem, after I have a whole arsenal of keystroke combos that wake up the monitor. Know it's the monitor because I got a ding notice on email but came over and could not get the monitor up.

This thing is blinding fast. Even reboots fast. This is because the hard drive is now a hard card, 256 GB. Storage for your files is on OneDrive cloud. Office 365 will only let you use OneDrive. I backup still, using File Explorer to a flash drive.

Norton (that we get free from CenturyLink) messed with MS Edge browser. Reinstalled Edge and seemed to work a bit but still was bothered by Norton. Downloaded Firefox. Thing is blinding fast even on our DSL.

Using my old Dell 21ish monitor along with the near 24" monitor on the HP. Got a video/HDMI adaptor to make it happen. Even have the external speakers from the old Dell hooked up, and they work better than they did on the Dell.

Oh, I've both the old printer (on USB) and the new printer on network both working on the new HP. Could not get the new printer working on the Dell even after finishing the Win 10 update.

I've been looking at getting a new desktop, ours an old hp running windows 7. Been watching YouTube and have been contemplating building one. I assume anything I buy now will be blazing faster than my current one. The wife and I like the idea of an All in one system.

I like the idea of the flash drive for the hard drive, but to me any program that wants to store my files on the ""cloud"" is one I will not be using. My connection speed is slow and inconsistent so even if I wanted to it would not work well. I use Open Office as my work suite, it works well and can save in windows formats as well as it's own and the price is one of my favorites,FREE.

We have several computers around here, ranging from mini's, tablets, laptops, all-in-one, and desk tops. Ranking them I'd say the mini is appropriately last place. Its called mini because its mini-useless. The all-in-one runs a close second-to-last. Painfully slow, impossible to work on, and fixed in its ways. To me, its pretty much like a red-headed step child.

The desktop would be the best, especially if you ever planned to make any changes to it like adding speaker boards, video memory, Ram, etc., or perhaps change monitors. Even going to dual monitors is simple enough with a desktop. Maybe I'm just old fashioned... Change for the sake of change rarely is an improvement.

Screw all this cloud storage mandatory update crap. I have everything back on Win 7 and plan to leave it that way as long as I can. Good ol Office 2007 on everything. I have one notebook I installed a SSD in and I have a 500 GB SSD plugged in to one of my USB ports on my desktop. $64 for a 500 GB SSD at Wally World stuck in a $7, 2-1/2" external USB case. Every so often I back everything up to a 2 TB WD external drive and every time I update my checking spreadsheet I back it up to a thumb drive as well as print the updated sheets.

I don't have ANY virus software other than Windows Defender and never plan to. (Conspiracy Theory) Who do you think creates these viruses? (/Conspiracy Theory) Anyways it's been years since I got a computer virus and I never got one I couldn't recover from.

Wish I could have stayed on Win 7. Could use my old Office 2003 with it, which included Publisher and Outlook. Would not load once I got a Win 10 machine.

This AIO is a desktop. We have a similar Dell Optiplex AIO at the extension office. Its CPU is like a box on the upper right back of the monitor. This HP has it in a smooth casing.

I had a Dell notebook with 10 on it that annoyed me to no end and I wiped it clean and put 7 on it.

WIN 7 PRO 64 bit is a free download. I bought a activation key for $2 off eBay. I also found Office 2007 that has publisher and all on a thumb drive with 5 keys for less than 20 bucks.

Last year I got me a Lenovo Ideacentre 520 all in one. I love this thing (I'm on it now), best computer yet I ever had.

I don't think you have to use the cloud. I have Win 10 and Office 365 on all my computers. If you right click on the cloud icon, and go to settings you can control what goes to the cloud or completely turn off the cloud backup (which I do). Win 10 has been really trouble free for me.

The USB drives work pretty well as additional storage. I have 256 GB flash drives on a couple of laptops and, combined with the 256GB solid state drives in computers, they are adequate. I need to build another desktop one of these days. I recently realized my son and I built my newest one when he was in high school and he's now nearing his PhD, so it's getting old.

I'd never get one of those pre-built computers, there's always a downside to them!. I always buy the individual components after a LOT of research on each component!. and assemble them my self, although a non-technical person could have a shop assemble them for you. you'll wind up with a MUCH better computer!..
