Tractor
Deere 790 MFWD
I pulled the trigger on the 790 several days ago (pictures to come later). Just wanted to thank the board for the advice and comparison to the 2210 and 4115. As a new tractor owner/operator now, I'm sure I'll have plenty of future questions.

In any case, proud new owner of a John Deere.

I had been working the tractor in the woods over the weekend, clearing underbrush and fallen trees, and am still unsure of how much of a beating it can take, hitting trees here and there as I was learning just how maneuverable it can be. The loader hydraulic seems to grind now (or release a slight grinding noise) when letting it down, not sure what that could be or if it was there when first got it. Any thoughts?

Oh yeah, as for pricing, with a 419 loader, LX5 cutter, and 65" Frontier box blade, the price came to just over $16K, pre-tax. It seemed to be the best overall price I could get in the area, as I was pretty diligent about comparison pricing within 150 miles.

Bleeding green and yellow . . .

Congrats FTG and welcome to Club 790! It's a great machine and nearly bullet proof. Not sure what to think about your loader noise, might just be air in the system. Try cycling it through the extremes of it's motion a few times and see if it gets any better /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Regrease the zerks and do it while the loader is in different aspects, up, down, bucket in, dumped etc.

Ahh...Ford trucks and JD tractors. Go together like a good whiskey and a couple of ice cubes! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif (Just not if you are driving!) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Congrats on the 790. I always liked that model. I was at my dealer yesterday picking up parts for one my mowers and he had a new one sitting out front. The 790 always struck me as the NASCAR model of the J.D. CUT's As I always do when I see one I asked pricing. Dealer said $12K for tractor. I should'a come home and made my plea to CFO for funding. Didn't though, maybe next time!

I think you will really like the 790. Sounds to me like you got a good price on the pacakge which always makes the deal a bit sweeter.

If the grinding sound continues after trying the other suggestions, be sure and notify your dealer.

Looking forward to those pictures. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
