New 5m series vs 6d series

Sorry to hear about the fire—never easy when equipment goes down unexpectedly. My dad is in a similar spot right now. He’s looking at tractors with a cab and loader, and was eyeing the new 5M series, especially the 5120M or 5130M. But with quotes coming in around $115K, it's hard to justify the spend. We came across a clean 6140D with cab and loader, only 1800 hours, listed for $65K, and it really got us thinking. From what we’ve researched, the 6140D has more raw power and a simpler setup, which might be better for field work like planting corn/beans and cutting hay. It may not have the newer tech and comfort of the 5M, but the value seems strong—especially if insurance takes time or falls short.

Make sure the D has capable hydraulics & ground speed you need.
Those economy tractors will lack slower ground speed for certain applications & don’t have near the gpm flow Hyd pump

My dad is looking to buy a new or somewhat new tractor with loader and cab, this really wasn't in the plans at this moment but had a tractor catch fire so need to do something, still waiting on insurance, pretty sure will be a total loss. Was looking at the new spotify 5m series, specifically the 5120 or 5130m. Talked to some dealers and for a new or fairly new one, they seem to be around 115k. He hates to spend that much. Got looking at used ones, found a 6140d with cab and loader with low hours, 1800 for around 65k. How does the 6140d compare to the new 5m series? This will be used as a field tractor planting corn, beans, cutting and baling hay, general loader work, pulling a grain buggy in the fall.

The 6140D is heavier, more powerful, and better for heavy pulling like grain buggies, but it’s more basic and has slower hydraulics. The 5M series is newer, more comfortable, with smoother controls and better ergonomics, but much pricier. For $65k, the low-hour 6140D is a strong, budget-friendly choice that will handle your listed jobs easily.
