Just got my new 5083e delivered and want to install a radio. My understanding is that these tractors come radio ready meaning speakers and harness are installed. My question is how to get the radio in? Does the cab roof have to come off. Ive searched and see conflicting info. I was able to determine which connector i need.

I haven't installed a new radio as I bought mine with one, but I have opened it up to solve a rattle. You shouldn't have to take the cab roof off at all. I don't know what yours came with, but here is a picture of the radio in my 5101.

You'll see the radio is in a plastic cover to the right of the AC controls. Here is a closer picture of it.

On the bottom of that plastic cover are four screws. Those screws hold it all together. Take those out and the cover drops. The wiring is all through the plastic and roof lining.

Has anyone ever tried to change the speakers in these tractors? I was wondering how you would get them out.

Ask pclausen, he has on his 5085M, Theres one in the radio head and one on the left behind the cab light.

I was wondering if you had to take the head liner down, or could you just access them another way?

By the way, the radio plug on these tractors is the same as a Volkswagon
You can get the harness adaptor from Best Buy for about 15 bucks or so. Then you just crimp the matching wires and it is plug and play. No cutting necessary

Would you happen to have a part number or a link for the wiring harness?
Thanks in advance

I know this is an old thread but, did y'all (yes I'm from Texas) have to use any type of bracket when installing the stereo?

Also, what size speakers are installed in the cab? Thanks for the help.
