Tractor
5045e John Deere 520m loader.have owned these others Mahindra 4035 hst 4wd John Deere 4044m hydro John Deere 970 gear
Finally a little over a year now, I've been waiting and now got my forever tractor on its way! Got a good deal I think on a leftover 4035 hst and loader. 24800 with taxes just couldn't come up with the extra for a jd 5045e.

Just read the manuals..only need to change engine oil/ filter at 50, and hydro filter, but not hydro oil. Nice.

Don't forget to keep an eye on your air and fuel filters. The fuel filter is a cheap item, and you need to purge the dust from the air filter; blowing out the dust from the inside out.

Yeah, tractors like to breath easy, just glad to not replace all the hydrostat oil at 50 hrs.

On the fuel filters Mahindra recommends changing every 6 months.

Building my counter weight and am using a drawbar, with a extended receiver hitch welded up with some rebar throughout, ive got 11 bags of 80 pd ready mix in there, and room for more, how much counter wt should i use? is close to 900 pounds enough? 2400 lb lift on the 120 loader.

Go with the 900 for now. Leave a couple of loops of rebar out of the concrete. Use it for a bit if ya need more add it. My counter weight for the 4530 is currently at about 600lbs. It could be heavier. I think the 900 will be ok but I'd keep my options open if I needed more.

That was my thought, see how it goes

I made a 2000 pound concrete weight for the back of my 5035. My hoe only is about 1500, but sticks back a little more in spots. Probably could have just made one about 1700 and knocked off the top corners of the one when I made my form. 2000 is PLENTY..!!!! [ but the steel is all welded and encased in hardened concrete...so too late ] :)

Another thing [ for what it's worth ] is that picking up one ton with the forks on my 5035 [ no hoe or ballast on the rear ] put just about no effective weight on my rear end. Trying to position that one ton quickly made my tractor teater on the front axle... with the rear end wanting to slid sideways due to the tractor pivoting on the front axle. So, remember that when you are figuring how much ballast you want planting your arse end down when you lift something with your FEL... I'd go 1200 and start from there. Unless you are going to add liquid ballast to the rear tires... [ there, done preaching for the day, sorry :) ]

Congrats on the purchase!!! I love mine, its the PST though. Tough tractor, very versatile, easy to operate, and looks really cool with a Construction Attachments grapple hooked up to it!!!! Why pay more for green paint? Best of luck with it! - Chris
