273 TYM. 2009 //Yardmachines 7 Speed Shift-on-the-goScotts L2048
Hi all, I've been lurking here for months. Absorbing ideas, thoughts, opinions, etc., etc. I've tried my best to deciper and decide on what would be the best brand [for the buck] to suit my 2.5 acres and my future mobility needs, [I plan to "eventually" get to the point where I can offer my services as an area brush cutter - to keep within county or owner fire needs, or even a horse arena fence installer, etc., etc.] - As a third career perhaps. Finally decided on the TYM273 and managed to score a 2009 model with the LT200 loader, Woods GB48 Box scraper, Woods RBC60 Rear angle blade, Woods BB60C Rotary Cutter (mower) [I was looking for a finish mower but this was all the dealer had, I just hope hope it'll suit my needs for grass cutting at my place], Woods PHD35 Digger with an 9" auger, and a used Woods 3PH disk - just because it was available and the price was right! I haven't yet recieved the PH digger or the Disk but they will be at my place within the next week. My dealer is located in Warner Springs - @ Rancho Sales & Service and is one "Great" Guy!! I am just sooo.. Jazzed I don't really know what else to say, except that I had the wife take numerous pictures and as soon as I figure out how to download/upload - they'll be posted!! While I was a lurker, I recieved so very much valuable information that I cannot thank everyone here strongly enough. I come from a 280 acre Minnesota dairy farm and was/am experienced with operating machinery from a very early age. But, Dad was the buyer and I never had any inkling of the actual cost of owning all the various equipment that we kids operated on a daily basis!! To say the least, I was extremely shocked to learn the current prices of what I consider as baby tractors. No offense to anyone - I am currently enjoying the "dickens" out of my newly purchased baby tractor. I was just citing the reality of times & locations and how they are a-changing. I spent just under 20,000 for the above listed equipment and am pleased as punch to now own hydraulic impliments which will save my back a-plenty when the wife suggests why don't we have this planted here or there? I don't often have much/anything to say. I usually just read, observe, absorb, & learn -- but today I am ONE satisified and happy owner so I chatted a fair bit. For my long windedness, I appoligize. To all of my fellow/sister TYM owners out there -- I say hello and I am darn glad to become one of your group!!
Gregster613 says hello and happy farming.....

Yes, yes welcome and congrats. I too have a T273 and really love it! TYM builds tough little tractors and the price just can't be beat. Good luck and definitely uploads some pics of '09 model. :p

Nice setup. TYM is a very nicely constructed tractor for the money. I did many years of research and I would have bought a 273TLB if my dealer didn't offer me a 330 Gear TLB at a price I could not pass up.

Have fun!

This thread is useless without pics...... I know, I know...Been busy playing, whoops, I mean working with my new Lil Beast; and trying to figure out the ins & outs of posting pictures here. After much searching, and the ingenious help of my son in law I do believe that I got it. At least I hope so....My wife took a bunch of photos for me, of me & Lil Beast gettin' accquainted & in action. If my re-sizing and linking works they should show up here. That's if the site works this time...I tried to post several days ago w/no luck. Here's a break down though:
Pic's 1-7 = arrival/unload joys,
Pic's 8-11 = My dealer Vic from Rancho Sales & Service @ Warner Springs and I talk controls, etc., etc. (A straight-shooter dealer in my opinion.)
Pic 12 = Close up of Lil Beast and some attachments. I've got a PH digger and 5' Disk yet to come; along with my Tilt Ram. I've got the top ram already.
Pic's 13-16 = Lil Beast and I get accquainted and trot off to start working!!!
Pic's 17-18 = 1st bite and full bucket...0.8 hrs on clock.
Pic 19 = Dead Oak tree that was (Once) in the way..No longer! Behind view shows where several other dead fruit trees once were. Concrete slab has got to go away also. Shucks, such hard work, so much fun!
Pic 20 = Lining up on the pad. Now here are the links, I hope they stick.
I cannot seem to get the links to show up here before I post. Once I drag them to the site, the entire picture takes over and I cannot see/get to the post buttons. Guess I need much further help.

Sorry about the other post with no attachments, did more searching and "think" I might have it this time. Here goes.

I notice a few changes the lights on the ROP and the ROP itself looks more forward leaning. I like the silver wheels vs cream colored. I keep debating pulling mine off and having them powder coated...

Be cool with a -five spoke- coated in there.

Be careful what you tell the wife play vs work. She could get jealous if it's play , tell her its work , hard work. :p

I just did some stumps for a neighbor he was impressed. Huge oak stumps took some extra time but with enough playing around, oops I meant work , they came out.

Tom59...Yes the lights are now located up high on the ROP -- (which does lean quite a bit forwards) and (leading me to wonder what type of canopy will ever fit it if I should desire to mount one?) -- as I am well aware of now that I've managed to get just "close" enough to a stout branch to mangle each side of the right-hand lense. I managed to accomplish that feat on the very first day I operated the Lil Beast. I've never had any experience with ROP cages until now. The Minneapolis Molines that my father was so very fond of and that we kids learned on -- 30 - 40 years ago, had no such instruments to interfere with any types of operation. I learn very fast however, it'll never happen again! I never noticed the diference in wheel color until you mentioned it, but yes they are silver now. My Lil Beast purrs like a kitten and even eats far less. I'm just pleased as punch thus far. Gregster613

Home Click here go to TYM....

I made a really simple bracket for mine that allows me to take it off in seconds. If you buy this type lmk , I'll show you how to make the brackets. ;) Makes it nice to travel with'em or work in the trees.

There is not a TYM dealer close to me . I would like to see one in person . Good luck and enjoy !!!

Is that a 3pt mounted backhoe or frame mounted? A dealer sent me some pics of this tractor today without the backhoe on it. What would I expect for price with a backhoe and a fel? I would rather if the backhoe was mounted on the frame instead of a 3pt mount.

the BT200 backhoe for the K2 series is frame mounted one. Is is "kinda" quick attach.

/ new 273 owner today! #17
ahh, thanks myazz. So its a sturdy set up. I live in eastern canada. Whats the price of a 273 with the frame mounted backhoe and fel? Nice tractor.

Not sure of current pricing but my guesstimate would be $16,000-$17,500

Hi all, Don't seem to see much traffic on this board and I'm hoping it's because most everyone with a TYM is like me so far - haven't had many problems worth reporting about! Knock on wood. I have a few observations I'd deem worthy of mention tho.

1. My hood had popped open unexpectedly quite a few times when I first got/began using my tractor.
A. Got an idea from this site to build up the latch mechanism somewhat. It has worked well so far, yet I still get that pop open occasionally. Seems to happen more-so whenever I'm using the loader and carrying a full bucket of earth across uneven terrain! It must be the flexing caused by the added weight to bucket and loader/frame shifting.
An annoyance surely! Further repair by myself deemed likely.

2. My fuel consumption is quite tolerable. She seems to only sip at the diesel. Unless I use my PTO. Whenever I have my Woods BB60 bushhog mounted then she drinks diesel - like I drink beer - after I'm done in a dusty field! Again, tolerable. Turning the PTO must really work the horses out of it.

3. Shifting out of 4-wheel drive, it's sometimes hard to get the lever to move? I often have to jiggle tractor backwards/forwards via pedals to get into that "sweet" spot. An annoyance, but tolerable.

4. Tractor creeping. I've adjusted the pedals several times and it's now "almost" totally stopped creeping, but I still never trust it. I always shift into neutral (& drop the 3PH/loader to ground) whenever I need to jump off machine for something. Maybe with enough time the pedals will loosen up and get looser? I've gotten 90 hrs on clock so far. I just adjust to situation at hand. Tolerable.

5. Can't talk about my BH experiences cause I don't have one as of yet. It's sure up there on my wish list/dream sheet tho!
As is a SSQA set of pallet forks for the loader - those I will get before the BH! If anyone else already has a set of them - where/whom did you get yours from? How well liked? How expensive were they? 42" or 48" forks?

Can't think of anything else that's been troublesome as of yet. I hope to have many, many more hours of operation before I notice anything worth mentioning. I just wanted to get on and say how satisfied I've been thus far in my union with TYM tractors. I hope everyone else is as satisfied as I am!
Happy tractoring & have a great weekend. Greg

I picked up my 293hst a couple of weeks ago. Finally had some time to put it to work the last couple of days. So far, everything has been perfect. I have been pulling logs up a pretty steep creek bank and I am amazed at how easy they are coming up. The BPA came through and cut a bunch of trees last year that were on the edge of the easement and just left them down in the creek. One of my first reasons for needing the new tractor!
I have also mowed the sides of the road and loaded a sprayer into the bucket to spray blackberries and thistle. I need to blade the whole thing next. I live at the end of a mile long, very steep private gravel road and for some reason, all the neighbors seem to think I am responsible for all the upkeep. I think I need to send them all a bill for the labor and materials.

Anyone here know how difficult it would be to add a set of rear remotes and hydraulic top link? Is it possible to add a side link as well for angling a blade? Is it something I can do myself or does it need to go to the dealer? Thanks for any info.

Ron
