Tractor
John Deere 2520
I just purchased a 2520. I'm not a new JD owner, I have a 455 also, which I really like. I downsized from a NH TC33D to this 2520. I like the tractor a lot except for the seat. My NH had a great suspension seat with 4" of travel and was adjustable for weight.

I've read threads on here that have mentioned installing a 700 series seat, but as rough as this tractor rides, I'm not convinced it has enough travel to compensate. Has anyone come up with a different solution?

I purchased the 62D deck with it and am pleased with that. I also purchased the 200CX loader.

Congrats on the new JD... I got a 2320 in May and havent found the seat to be that uncomfortable, but im very tolerant and also dont have much to compare it to....

There were quite a few posts about 2210 or 2305 owners swapping out their seats months ago... You may try a search on this area of the forums and see if you can find something..

I dont find the seat that bad at all. I did cut one ring out of the rubber shock bushing. and it like rideing a different tractor. seat sets much flater.

I know RollTideRam has an Xseris seat on his 2520. so you can put one on.
I hear there about 500$ dollars though...:(

Good Luck....;)

Great idea!
When looking at the seat, I can see that it does tilt forward, but I figured that when I put my 220# butt in it, it would level out. But, I still feel that I am leaning forward.
I am going to give your idea a try - thanks for sharing!

I am 258 and i could not flaten it out. and yes it does lean foward.;)
not like a junky old bota seat....:D but it does lean a little.
cut the whole very top ring off to the first joint. and you will think you got
a different tractor....;) I love it. alot more comfortable.

I do lots of taebo and pilates which keeps my bum in shape for the Deeres seats. I find its easier to shape my bum, than install $700 seats :)

all kidding aside;
I find the seats rather comfortable, but can understand if someone has a real bad back they would want to go the extra yard. At least its not a Kubota seat -no amount of taebo or pilates would have helped there :)

Re: Kubota seats.

Moot point. Kubota is replacing them for free or for a very nominal charge.

I put the x series special edition seat on mine. It was close to $500, but dealer gave me $225 for mine in trade. This seat has a built in suspension, but on the x series it also had a spring suspension. The extra springs would have made my seat way too high. My x495 has these springs with the same looking seat that comes on a 2520. It still rides better than my new seat on the 2520. I hurt my back last year carring a transmission in the middle of mowing season. I had to have relief to keep my mowing committments. JC

Yep, bad back is what I'm trying to help. I purchased the suspension assembly for a 3000 series tractor today. I'm going to adapt it to my tractor. It cost me $395. I'll post some pictures when I get it done.
