JD 2305
Hey guys,

First off, great forum, great advice....I've learned alot. Thank you to all.

After many hours of lurking, I've decided on:
JD 2305, 62C MMM, FEL, ballast box, iMatch hitch (i have a couple of rear implements planned later on), hood guard, and as mentioned...a few implements to be named later. I won't even comment on the price as you guys outside of New England seem to be able to negotiate much better deals. But I will say the difference between my high/low quotes on a 2305 is over $800.00

I went in looking at a 700 series garden tractor, with an eye on the 2305, but after research, the 2305 seems the smart choice.

I've had one dealer push REALLY tio move up to the 2320/2520 but I think it's just far too large a machine for my needs........ and another that offered info on the larger machines, but supported my choice of the 2305

I have 3.5 acres of grass, flat as a pancake, no trees. I'm guessing 80%of my time will be mowing and 20% loading/tilling/etc...

Any thoughts one way or the other from the gallery? A nod to JDFanatic for his input via a couple of emails. Wednesday is my day to place the order!

Thanks!!

JDforME - Good stuff, I was in the same boat as you, I started looking at the home depot specials, then 300's then 500's then 700's then the 2305 which seemed to easily be the winner. Then when I was ready to get the 2305 I came here learned more and went with a 2520.

I got 2 acres and similar needs like yourself, while I still feel the 2305 would have been great and probably the way to go, I figured I am going to buy a tractor one time in my life and figured why not be over powered than under.

Once again I am sure the 2305 would still be more than enough, ah well :D

Enjoy the new ride, sounds like you made a great choice.

Keep the Rubber Side down

Just a quick update.... My new 2305 was delivered a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier! FEL, 62C MMM, ballast box and iMatch hitch

The savings in time cutting grass alone has made it worth while and the quality of the cut is superb. With my old JD317 it took me about 5 hrs to cut the lawn (3 acres, all grass) With the 2305 I was able to shave that down to about 1 hr 20 min :D And that wasn't pushing it! (I still can't quite wrap my head around the time savings, but it IS there) In my case, the cruise-control is a great option.

I REALLY like the FEL as well. I took down a good size birch tree that ice storms had done a number on this past winter. I used the FEL to rip out the stump/roots and fill hole, back bladed it nice and smooth in no time at all. Carted the cut up lengths off to the woodpile in the bucket......

So far, I'm extremely happy with my choice and thanks again to the forum for your input. My only suggestion to Deere, at this point, would be to include a folding ROPS on this model, it would be a very nice feature and worth the few extra bucks they'd probably charge for it.

Thanks again, I'll try to post some photos soon!

Congrats on the new machine!

I finally got a chance to use mine for the reason I bought it - tree clearing. One fell in my drain field, so I cut it into three chunks and dragged it away. The tractor pulled the 20'-30' sections like they weren't attached! Awesome power in such a small package. You'll enjoy it...
