I like it!!!! I especially like how you made it clear. It is also a smart thing you did in having the lid on loosely instead of tight. That makes for a bomb (although I would expect it to blow the tube first). SAY.....how does that pressure build in the container without blowing the tube out? Mine is just a pocket knife hole with about two or three inches of tube shoved in it. WOW! I knew great minds think alike. HA!!!!

So, you have made me feel 100% better about my temporary fix. After all, you're the engineer....not me. If it works, don't fix it and it certainly seems to work.

In my container or even on any overflow coolant system the tank must be atmospheric or vented. If not the tank will implode (sucked in) by 14.7 psi x surface area of the vessel when it cools off. There is no pressure build up in what I have done as any pressure build up will exit from where the tubing enters the jar. There is no chance of blowing the hose first. I do keep the lid tight, and the only reason it was lose was because I wanted to secure it better with more bailing wire. The key is to have a one inch level of antifreeze in the container and terminate the hose in liquid, any overflow and it pushes the liquid in the container that is atmospheric and when radiator cools off the vacuum cause sucks the same back in thru the tube without losing siphon as the hose end is in liquid and can't suck air up.

JC,

ps. I'm an engineer to believes in KISS principal as long as laws of physics are not violated.

Yeah....I'm a KISS fan as well. That is one rocking band that has stayed together for a long time (the two founding members anyway). I also believe in keeping it as simple as possible....all the way down to my archery equipment. Yes, I stray from "keeping it simple" from time to time but I truly live by the KISS code. Since you needed/used such a small space and feel that an overflow is good to KEEP, I may find me a good strategic spot for which my smaller, home-made overflow compartment may rest. At least I know that I don't have a cracked head or head gasket. After all the work I've done this week, I should have blown the engine by now. It is truly a good little tractor and all I need to do is service the t-stat or the radiator.....probably both and will be good to go.

Well, JC, thanks for the help and the very interesting conversation. My wife will be home soon (date night) so I'll pick this back up Monday. Hopefully, I'll have a cool little spot for the new overflow to sit. Once all is PERFECT, I'll get some dents out, paint and re-wire some lights. I still want a big flood light for backin up at night......not that I plan to do any gardening or food plots at night. HA I do fully intend to haul a big ole buck out after sunset so I'd best get a move on with the lights. My horn still works but not a light on the tractor works.

So, have you guys started your rifle season yet and have you done any good. I have been trophy hunting.....especially since my son is having to work so much (don't wanna kill any deer that he may have a chance to get when OR IF he gets to hunt any). He's not even getting to go to the mountains of TN with us for Thanksgiving.

By the way.....hunting has been a bit difficult right off the bat cuz we have a LOT of acorns this year......A LOT!!!!

We had a 2 day pre-rut rifle season. I had a doe and yearling first day morning and one big doe just before dark on the second day. 3 down and 3 more to go. I have one buck and two doe tags left.

Well, that is truly putting meat on the table. Do you do your own dressing/butchering? If so, you must be staying really busy....and I assume someone as independent as yourself does just about everything without need of others, (including your own meat preparation). I do ALL of my own stuff cuz I truly don't trust anyone else to do what I know I can do VERY well. I even make some of the best jerky (if it stays around long enough to go through the curing process). As fast as my family and friends eats it.....I may as well simply skip the curing process. HA!!! My son was able to hunt a couple of weeks ago and a really good buck was just out of range. I bow hunt ONLY but he'll be picking up his rifle or 45/70 soon enough. HA!!!!

yep I do it all myself. I was busy those two days. A deer about 140 lbs is reduced to 30-40 lbs of solid meat.

JC,

The meat is from the doe and the yearling.

Well.....I did a little of that today. plugged a wise old doe at 17 paces today with my trusty old Darton. The arrow is still good for yet another deer as it went all the way through....even after busting a few ribs. I wouldn't have even had to sharpen the blades (except for the arrow sticking in the ground after passing through). I saw several this morning and would have liked to go this evening but I had meat to put up and I made a big batch of biscuits, gravy and two different kinds of steak. My son's only complaint was that it wasn't tomato gravy. HA!!! I am going to make half of the meat off this old doe into jerky. I'll marinade it tomorrow, cure it in a few more days and then dry it for the trip to Gatlinburg (Thanksgiving).

Wow! I like the way you seperate the meats and the sink is fantastic! Any chance of you making me a deer basket like the one you probably welded? HA!!! Just kidding....I have two for my burb (one in front and one in back). I just through the deer a got this morning into the back of the Silverado. I say I have to cages....one has the lock on it and we have yet to find the key. I'll need it cuz the family intends to Christmas shop while we're in the TN mountains.

Glad you got some good, quality meat there....hope you get a big un. I'm going tomorrow and will hopefully get that big sonty-ma-gun that's been killin' my trees and cutting up my ground. HA!!! He's in there. My son saw him.....pure kid is having to work many hours while the rest of us are on semi-vacation. HA!!! He's in bed right now (9:03) here in the Memphis, TN area. That is super early for him to hit the hay.....they must really be working him hard. I bet he wishes he hadn't stayed out of college a semester now.

Well, gotta go....

Sounds good red. I need to pick up Bow and arrow hunting at some point. At this point " I like to reach out and touch someone, deer that is". I will be a bit choosy on my any deer tag (buck tag). I'll be hunting Wednesday after thanksgiving for my remaining 3 tags. I separate muscle groups in deer hind quarter, double bag and lable the package. label has information like which deer and what part such as ( D2 S), Doe #2 and Sirloin and (D3 BS) Deer # 3 and back-strap. All the rest I ground.
