Yanmar 1500D
So far i love it, a red FEL, brand i dunno, has grease fittings on most all the pivots, and looks like decent quality, works well.

So now for my thermostart Q.
My key has on, and crank positions only no TS position. It is a Yanmar key.

on my motor i have whats in the pic with a broken wire. Looks like a thermostart setup, the wire is for the glowplug?

Did any of them have a button or something?

I have read that the 1500 didn't come with a thermostart or it was an option. You can read anything so I don't really know the truth. If it were me I would just run a hot wire through a switch to the thermostart plug and go for it. You can get a variety of switches at any auto parts store.

Welome to TBN!
That is the thermostart in your picture. It looks factory too. The broken wire is to energize it. The thermostart was an option on the 1500s. My guess is that the original switch went bad and it was replaced with a non thermostart switch. Either that or maybe the TS position is just broken. How many wires are on the back of the switch? They never had a pushbutton switch from the factory.

Mine has 3 wires.

There is a button on the dash i dont know what its for, horn?

Or did they maybe use it for the thermo i wonder.

Does the thermo have a large amp load, like is a button ok to run it, or put a relay on too.

The PO gave me a manual with your company name stamped in the front! :)

The TS draws some 15 amps so a cheap momentary switch like a doorbell isn't enough. Assuming your ignition switch doesn't have 'twist left for TS' then an aftermarket horn button, the type with a clamp around the steering column, might be the cheapest solution. Or just get the correct dash-mount pushbutton from Hoye. Early YM2000 used this so it should be a stock item.

Whatever you do, feed it from the side of the ignition switch that is hot only when the key is on.
