JD 110 TLB
Hi,

I,ve been reading this forum for a long time and just purchased a 2005 110 tlb and need to purchase a mower. I would prefer a flail but current finances and opportunity have me looking at a jd 609 rotary mower (a friend has one they don't use anymore and the price looks right, $400). The JD website shows 40 pto hp necessary and the 110 has 33 pto hp I believe. The JD site also says you can tilt the mower forward for less hp requirements. I'll be mowing 10 acres of rough grass and some scotch broom a few times a year strictly for fire control ( N. California). I will probably purchase a smaller flail in a couple years but do you think this will work okay in the mean time? Thanks!

It will work fine. Keep it adjusted so the rear is about two inches higher than the front and it will cut better. JC

I have used my MX6 behind my 110tlb without problems, in real heavy stuff you may need to slow down some. Quick answer is if the 609 is in good shape I would jump on it for $400. A new MX6 is over $2500 now as I understand.

Thanks for the responses. I just hate purchasing something uncertain just because it looks like a good deal, but now I feel confidant. I'll post pictures when I get it set up.

Mauledriver, Why not post pics before you buy it?
