Neighbors Tractor

Thought you guys might want to see a nice rebuilt Case 930. This belongs to my neighbor who cut my hay for me this weekend. I say rebuilt, and not restored because this is definitely a working tractor. He has a second one just like it, but without the new paint job.

In the background you can see the circa 1920 steel hay rake we used, that he prefered over his 10 year old rubber tired John Deere rake. Attached to the tractor is a New Holland bale stacker that we had mixed results with, but it was the first time he has ever used it.

Andy (the owner) says he bought the tractor at auction for $3K and put another $3K worth of work and paint into it. Seems like a good deal to me! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

That tractor looks great for a daily worker! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif How does the hay stacker work? I've never seen one before. I don't see farmers in this area use something like that.

It's great to see old iron still doing the job it was meant to. Rebuilding such machinery and then using it seems so respectful. Looks like a happy tractor.

Nice rig... Those Case 30's have a special place with me as my grandfather had a 630, 730, and an 830 at different times...

The yellow arm on the left of it grabs the hay bales as you drive up to them and puts them on the table (all by chains moving the bales into postition). Then when the table is full it raises and puts it up on the bed and resets for another load. Once it gets a full load (around 120 or so I can't remember) you take it to your shed or if you live in a climate where you store hay outside you take it to your stacking ground and flip the lever and the entire bed lifts to verticle. Then you pull away as the rams under the bed push on the hay to unload the entire stack as one big bale. THe only thing is you need a quarter turn shoot on your baler so the bales drop on their side. It is the only way to pick up the bales with this machine. I think Cowboydoc has one or two so he can add more if need be.

Now contrary to the green bleeders, I think that when someone opens up a dictionary and looks up the word 'Tractor", that is what they should see.

I saw one of these working at a farm near where I live, neatest thing since sliced bread. I can not think of the many hours throwing hat UP into a loft at my dad's neighbors place for a couple of pops a day. Very cool labor saver for sure

I might be mistaken, but I think this Case line was one of the first to move the operator forward, in front of the rear axle. Prior to that, the operator often stood behind the rear axle (and had a seat available.

With this configuration, the ride was less bouncy, hench the phrase "comfort King". At least that's the way I remember it.

Nice tractor. My dad bought a new one in 1965, the same year I was born and it's still used today on my brothers farm. The only thing I didn't like was the hand clutch.
