JD 2305
Need some advice and you guys were very helpful in 2007. I just traded my JD 2305 in for a JD 4320. I still have a JD Tiller and Land Pride box blade and finish mower.

After mowing with my new rig, I noticed the gear box seemed to really be under some serious torque and was making a lot more noise than when attached to the 2305. I did some research on my finish mower and saw the specs said it is for 30hp tractor max. New rig is 48hp. Do I need to trade up on the mower as well to avoid killing the mower?

It's a holiday weekend, almost. Things a bit slow. :)

Got a bump for you anyhow.

Man, that is a hard call; I could argue either way. If you are just cutting grass, there "shouldn't" be a problem as the mower is operating at the same speed under the same resistance as on your 2305. We have a couple of old Caronis that have been used on everything from a Ford NAA to an 80 and all we ever did was smoke the belts when abused.

I like to use the right rated equipment though so I probably would trade up; probably doesn't help much.
