I'll check out that Sribd website. Thank you.

On the bucket dump time. Mine is pretty quick. If I get her back running tomorrow I'll give it a count down to see how many seconds it takes.

I think I can press my clutch all the way in. Doesn't seem to be locked up. I had the Deere store do a full inspection less than 40 hours ago and we pretty much hit everything except new paint. $$$$$ ouch!

Ok, thanks. I downloaded them about 1 1/2 years ago and it seems the 4 service files are still there but I couldn't find the 2 parts manual files on my visit a few minutes ago.

Ok guys. I was able to pull up a manual on Scribd thanks to 955Lincoln and sure enough there's a hand primer on the fuel pump according to the manual. So I got out and locate it. It appears to be a flange towards the block on the fuel pump. It's a silver colored flange that rocks back and forth. I pumped it and could hear some pressurizing happening .

My question now is: Will I have to open up any of the fittings on any of the lines or is that hand primer designed to somehow vent that air when you pump it?

I sure am glad we have the internet these days and forums like this.

If you can hear fuel running back into the tank it should mean the air is out of the lines to the injector pump. The pump you are taking about is often called a 'lift' pump in that it only insures the fuel gets to the injector pump which creates the high PSI required to make the injectors spray.

Since the fuel tank is mounted in front of the radiator there really is little gravity flow to the injector pump unless the tank is full as you stated.

Do you have someone to try the starter while you pump?

It took a lot of grinding for my 310 to fire but it was starting to rain some so I was under the gun plus the starter is already sick but I have a new on in the box.

You will get it started but when is not known.
:D

Thanks Gale. Yep, the fuel tank I literally filled to the very top to try and get as much air out of it as possible.

As far as help goes ... I have my trusty wife. She's there to help whenever I need her.

I'll try it in a little bit and let y'all know how it went.

You should loosen the fuel line at the injector pump on the left front of the engine and push the primer lever. This will result in much less cranking to get fuel up to that point. Look on page 105 (2-44) of the dash 1 manual.

Careful not to burn your starter up.

Good luck!

Thanks 955Lincoln. I'm looking at pages 2-340 through 2-342 right now to. There's an entire step by step on there with diagrams of how to re-prime the system.

We might get this thing started again afterall!

I think you will be ok with just loosening the fuel line at the injector pump and pushing the prime lever. Interesting note on the pages that you mentioned, if you feel that the prime lever isn't pumping very much fuel, bump the engine over to get the drive lobe on a low point. In other words, if the lobe is at the high point the prime lever will do nothing because the fuel pump will already be fully extended.

Yep I noticed that point about the lobe. Little things like that that make a big difference.

Is your fuel filter the rectangular glass box? If so it will have a vent screw at the top. Get the air out of it the move on to the injector pump. Once you have fuel to the injector pump, try loosening an injector line.
