Honeysuckle is an invasive plant, and hard to kill out completely. every root/stem that gets on the ground will root and grow next spring.
Rather than explain, look it up on the web.

Have about an acre of 3" - 4" Honeysuckle. Anyone know if I can get away with renting a Billy Goat walk behind?
How many trees/bushes actually? I've dealt with them (some 4" nasty limbs) here. They are nasty and invasive.

My process was to reach in with my Dewalt 20v battery tree trimmer (regular chainsaw if you can reach) and cut each near the base, drag out the branches and SPRAY WITH TORDON, then deal/pull the stumps a year or so later when they're decayed. It might take a while, but it's cheaper...

Tordon works great, but it’s restricted use. You have to take a class and get a license to buy it.

I cleared a long bank of brush (honeysuckle, Japanese Heaven, multiflora rose) many years ago that totaled about 1/2 acre. Working on a 30 degree bank made it more difficult, but was still doable with a chainsaw, axe, lopers, long handle hedge trimmer, and assorted other tools. Once it was hacked up I just kept it mowed with a walk behind and in a few years the invasives died off.
Were I to do it again (not on a bank) I would selectively chainsaw the large diameter stuff, drag it out, then get a brush hog or flail mower in there to mow it off. If you're talking 5-6' high and dense jungle, I would hire it out to a forestry mulcher.

Hi all - newbie here.
Have about an acre of 3" - 4" Honeysuckle. Anyone know if I can get away with renting a Billy Goat walk behind? I know it will be hard work but I don't mind if the machine can do it. If not, my only other option is rent a Tractor w/ brush cutter but that would cost significantly more. I've never ran a skid so that's not really an option.
Are you saying the vines are 3 to 4 inches thick? A standard baseball bat is less than 3 inches in diameter.
