I am interested in making a dipstick for the transmission. I'm thinking a 1/8 metal rod, dipped into the transmission to get the current level, before draining.
I'll look at getting a chain clamp and locking zerk coupler.
Thanks for all the help!

Fifteen quarts is just short of 4 gallons. You should check your common sump hyd oil capacity... Once you pull the plug you need to have pails available for the full capacity just in case. Please do not ask me how this can turn sour real fast if you are not prepared..... The mental scars take a long time to heal...

D'oh! You're right. Thanks for pointing that out. The transmission is 8.5 gallons, the engine is 1.3, and the front axle is 2.2. Don't know why I thought two 15 quart drain pans would hold all that. Back to amazon. . .

I tried several ways to refill my sump. I finally settled on using a bucket pump stuck into the 5 gallon pail of hyd fluid. With the pail set up on a stool to keep it at a comfortable height. I did not take the cover off the pail, and just stuck the pump part down into the opening [ you can make it bigger if the opening is too small. Then stuck the pipe on the end of the hose into the small opening in the fill hole. I tried to just use a funnel/dump it in slowly, but did not turn out too good of an option. Hand pumping in the contents takes a little time, but you get to oggle the arse end of your tractor whilst you work.... helps pass the time. When done, I put the pump into a clear plastic bag and hang it on the wall. Keeps it clean for next time.....
