After way too many years of not doing much in the way of exercising, I just started some weight lifting and cardio.. For weight lifting I bought bodylastic resistance bands ( Resistance Bands by Bodylastics, The original exercise bands system ) These are elastics tubing the provide resistance thru various exercises.
My problem is that a lot of exercises require the bands to be mounted at various heights. The provided door anchors do not work in my case - I have split closet doors, and the room door is hollow core and opens inward - I also have furniture that gets in the way.
My thought is to mount something directly beside a window (it has open floor space in front of it, and the curtains will hide anything from sight) - our windows have three 2x4 around the window opening and the trim is only 2.25" wide. So I am calculating that i have about 2" of 2x4 that I can mount something too..
Any suggestions on what to mount? I found a wood screw that has a ring attached (see pic below)
I thought of mounting closet rail/tracking (see pic), that way I can screw it in at a lot of different places for extra strength along the entire length. If i use the closet rail, I am not sure how to attach the bands to it though - but it would give my multiple mounting points.
any other thoughts or suggestions? I am not a he-man by any means, but I have no idea what sort of strength rating something would need..
thanks
Brian
