Need Stuff and Can't Remember

Ok, so the wife and I are outside all day yesterday doing small jobs, getting ready for winter. During the course of the day I kept coming up with items I need to pick up at the store for future jobs. I know I had about 6 or 7 items I need and this morning I can only remember about half of them. How do you guys remind yourself of what you need? These are those small items like lag screws, a can of spray paint, razor blades for the utility knife, one 2x4 etc.....

Try to keep a pen or marker in the pocket, and jot stuff down on any scrap of paper I can find...doesn't always work.

Funny, if the kids are with me all I have to do is tell them and they remember. I tell the kids I just have too much stuff on my mind to remember. Gettin old is a PITA!

Boy, talk about identifying! I write stuff down and forget where I left the note. I also tried writing it on my hand, but then it gets rubbed off or smudged so badly I can't read it! Iphone! My last and best phone was from Verizon and I like it, it is armored, waterproof to 10', and dustproof. I don't know if it has a note feature I guess I will check it out. This is the first phone I have had that I haven't destroyed. I rolled over the one before this one on a creeper while servicing the tractor and crushed it. The gal at the phone store said, "what did you do to this poor phone?" Wnile she was programming this one she was activating the texting feature and I told her no thanks. She advised me that I might need it. Why? You might be at the grocery and your wife might need you to pick something up for here! It's a phone, she can call me! Oops, I digress, oh well sort of goes hand-in-hand with forgetfulness. Ah, Sunday, heading to TSC today to check out some new boots!

a month ago the remote garage door opener got where would not work unless close to opener. removed cover to find size of battery.
Wife was going to Wal-Mart so gave her the battery for replacement. She did but I have lost the opener. Beginning to think I tossed it into the trash can .
So now use key to side door to touch inside opener than return to car to drive into garage.
Wife has not made comment but can see she looks at me differently.

I have found that due to my advanced age,(44 lol) I have to write it down. Phone app sounds good. If I find myself at the hardware store without a list, I walk through the job at hand in my head, and that will usually jog my memory enough to get what I need. Of course there have been times that I need 5- 1-1/2" screws, and am sure that I have some, and end up taking a grinder to 5 3" screws to cut them..... because I ran out....or can't find them.....

I write stuff down ! A friend of mine musta kept forgettin his wifes name so I guess he went ahead and tatooed it on his arm.

This reminds me of the guy who was telling his friend about the memory class he went to and how to associate things with memory. His friend asked him and the name of the class and he says, what's that red flower with the thorns called. Friend says "Rose?" Guy says yeah Rose, then says to his wife, hey Rose what was the name of that class we went to.
Kinda reminds me of myself.

I used one of those little pocket size digital voice recorders. Problem is to remember to put it in my pocket when a go out the door. And to be sure the battery is good.:laughing:

Wife and I went to the grocery store yesterday and got home and were missing the 17 lb. Turkey we had bought...Called the store and the lady said...Oh yes..we have your turkey , you forgot it in your basket...

The wife got in the car, it was cold and wind was blowing at 20 MPH, so I unloaded the cart into the car...Now how did I miss a 17 lb. Turkey...? I drove back to the store and picked up....I still swear the turnkey must have flown away...

I carry a little not pad and pen and jot notes....but how did I miss the turkey....had to have flown away...

I've wrote stuff down since my 20's, hasn't gotten worse but hasn't gotten better. Also if I write stuff down, I only get what's on the list. If I go to the store without the list who knows what I'll bring home. This holds true for hardware store as well as grocery store.

I have a white board in my work van . I simply write down anything that i need when i think of it at the time while outside. If not handy, i leave a message on my calander function on my cell phone

Yep, good case of C.R.S. syndrome. That is the one thing I can remember.

I have a chalk board and a pegboard in the garage for needed things. My family also uses this list for presents for x-mas, birthday, fathers day, etc.

My son gave me his old Iphone4. I have found so many uses for it in the month I have had it. I cannot figure out how I got along without it all these years.
Using Voice Memos has been the biggest help. No more written list. That I cannot read my writing.
