Need smallest trade for new Rtv 500

Yesterday, I hauled my neighbors new RTV500 home from the dealer in my 6 by 8 trailer. First, we drove the thing in frontwards, but the trailer ramp/gate would not shut. So we backed it in and the tailgate went over the trailer top rail, which worked great.

He is real happy with it so far, but thinks it may be a little underpowered. However, I believe he needs to learn how to use the hydro transmission to his advantage.

I am planning on a new RTV 900 in the Spring. I now own a Mule 2510, which has been bullet proof reliable.

I have never been a fan of the single axle trailer since I had one shear a wheel while towing a boat on interstate 80. Very wierd to see your trailer tire go screaming by and then cross over into oncoming traffic.
I haul my Trans Mule on a Big Tex 14' tandem axle utility model. There is just enough more room for the JD mower which we haul 2-1/2 hours up to the "dream property" every couple of weeks during the growing seasons. If you do get a flat tire enroute, simply go forward or back onto a block and change the tire.

If you're looking for a small trailer, check out Harbor Freight (Harbor Freight Tools ? Quality Tools at Discount Prices Since 1968). They have a 4'x4' assemble it yourself trailer for under $200, and a smaller steel trailer in about the same price range. You can probably find a HF retail store somewhere near you.

Sorry- I misread your original post. I thought you were looking for a trailer to haul behind your RTV, not to haul your RTV in. I use a 5 x 8 (60" x 120") utility trailer rated for 2,000 lbs. My RTV500 just fits in this dimension, but backed in (RTV front facing the rear of the trailer, and with nothing in the receiver hitch). If your trailer doesn't come with a ramp, try Harbor Freight for loading ramps. They have a set of light weight aluminum ramps rated at 1200 lbs for about $125. Comparable ramps at the UTV dealer were $400+.
