Looking for a new cell phone.
The only towers in my area are Verizion network.
Other towers are too far away weak signal strength.
Is there a cell phone that works - that you really are satisified with?
That you can hear the voice clearly?
Do you use the fancieeee options on cells phones these days or do you use it to call and receive calls?
What manuf and model of phone is it?

Probably WAY outside what your looking for, but then again I'm a geek at heart. I've had the New HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon for about a month and have been very pleased. My one complaint is that the audio is TO loud when making calls. I've got it turned down as far as it will go.
This thing will do everything you can think of and then some. "There's an app for that" LOL

My wife and daughter have an Iphone. They both love them. I just saw research that confirmed that they are among the most troublefree. They just don't handle being dropped very well, but what complex piece of equipment does.

My wife and I have had Blackberry Bolds for a few years now. Great sound and reception in most areas (but we are currently with AT&T).
I'm a bit of a gadget freak, but I wanted a more business oriented phone and the Bold satisfies that aspect quite well.
Biggest downside is if you want to surf the Net. It's good for e-mail, but the screen is too small for reading most other sites.
I'm not a real big fan of touch screens either.

As far as durability, the Bolds are robust. If you want to make them very robust, get an Otterbox for them.

For a basic phone try the Casio G'zOne. Wife had the rock version, son and I have the older version. Only have killed one in 4 years bounced out and mowed it with a zero turn. Current phone is 3 years old on original battery.

Wife has blackberry now primarily for work email.

The G'zOne is a contractor type phone with shock rating and water proof

I'm a KISS person when it comes to a cell phone. Have no desire for it to send email, surf the web & Etc.

Currently have a TracPhone, it will text & take pictures. But all I use sending & receiving calls. 12 Cents a minuet. I think they use almost everyone else's towers. Mine works and have had no problems. Phone is LG brand, battery lasts about a week if I don't yabber too much..

Had a Sanyo for about 10 years. It was a little hard on batteries, but am sure that they have improved a lot in that length of time.

Bob,

99% of what my wife and I use a cell phone for is boring voice communication. The Samsung Convoy has been great for us for almost a year now. Not real fancy, but rugged. We do send the occasional text message or picture, but that's about it.

been in same situation as you, and always looking for the best phone as far as sending & receiving and staying connected, Been through many brands with AT&T the motorola Raz V-3 was the best, but became outdated a couple years ago, I then got the Blackberry and this one had a mind of its own:cool: and became aggravating having to reset it all the time, I had someone wanting to trade for my Blackberry, I did some research on the Phone she had to offer and really had a good feedback, so i traded and continue to use past 2 years -> the LG- GR500 always been reliable with good clear reception, has the best of both worlds, Look it up and you'll see,
LG provides cell phones for most all server/providers,;)
