That sounds pretty weird. I put my Kioti on my homeowner's policy, no problem at all. This is for use on my own property and not to use on public roads. Maybe talk to someone else in the office, somehow that doesn't seem to make sense, make of tractor shouldn't really make any difference. :)

Home Owners policy covers my JD, the Honda and all the other toys in my shed.

I know it's weird, homeowners only covers $10k for gardening. Can't boost this number if its for a Kubota, all others are good. Nothing over 25HP, B2620 is 19PTOhp. Asked if they would cover a lawnmower valued at $20k and that's OK, but not a tractor. Tried a different insurer and they would cover the tractor, but not our wood furnace(which we kind of want to keep since it get cold here) as we live a distance from the firehall. Tried a place that can cover your fish derby or hot air balloon. but they too refused on Kubota.

I'd have to look but I pay something over $100.00 per year as a rider to my homeowners policy. Think the value, tractor with backhoe, is around $30,000.00 Looks like you need to keep shopping.
What area do you live?

I had to go looking for a company that would insure a tractor period. Royal Bank (my bank) Insurance wouldn't cover tractors, TD Primmum (where I used to be) wouldn't cover tractors. So I went to Cooperator's - "no problem" for the tractor, plus my car and house were cheaper too. :). It's $170/yr and includes driving it on the road (it has license plates).

I'm not sure where you are, but here in Manitoba its not a problem. I'm with Wawanesa insurance (they do my personal and business) and they only charged $100 extra to cover my BX2660 and all the implements. When I bought a full size TLB last year (JD 310C) is was another $100 for that. Dirt cheap conpared to what I have to pay for insurance for anything on the road.

Weird huh...
Haven't tried Cooperators, had a bad experience in the past.
Tried about 6 local insurance brokers, all the same answer.
Seems simple to me, just add 15k to the gardening tools on my existing policy but apparently thats not the case.

I wonder if you simply need to talk with an experienced farm insurance broker. Find a close rural insurance agency to talk with. City brokers might only know city home insurance. Calls to 1-800-blah and you might be talking to someone far far away.

In my own experience living in Winnipeg the local city banks and insurance agencies no nothing about acreage property needs and even what the insuruers they represent offer for acreage owners. They deal daily with city lot folk where a 60 x 120 lot is HUGE and a riding lawn mower is rediculous. I travel outside the city to the closest rural municipality for all my acreage property banking and insurance needs. They work with farm and acreage owners every day. Tractors, equipment and horses are all easily added to policies.

Good advice from dmay. Find your closest/favorite farmer and ask him what he does. Your dealer might be able to point you in the right direction as well.
