you may want to try being a little more specific. Like what model of tractor it is. Johndeere probabally had 20-25 models that year(just a guess). If the tractor is old/worn and you dont know what modlel it is, try posting some pics and maybe we can help ID it.

But to try to help you, most tractors havr a lever to the right of the seat that controls the 3PH. Assuming it has a 3PH cause some older tractors dont.

Also, some ran the hydraulic pump off of the PTO. Which means you may need to press the clutch, enguage the pto, and then try again.

Do you know where the lever is???

Have you tried anything I suggested above?

Have you ever operated a tractor before??
