Welcome to TBN:D

The coffee colored fluid is most likely your problem, it means that the fluid has water in it. Can't help with filter locations and such-but you need to change that fluid and find out where it's getting in the system.

check on the case under the rear wheel area . look for 2 bolts that is holding down a oval shaped plate .this may be on the brake pedal side.put a large pail under there and open the bolts. remove the plate and screen.wash the screen with solvent and soft brush.put back together with new fluid.

Black coffee color> burnt fluid
Chocolate milkshake color> moisture in fluid
Either way the fluid should be changed and the screen serviced
I ordered some parts and a owners manual from Valley Power and was
impressed with the person I talked to (Bill) he was a bid help and has
alot of knowledge of Satoh tractors. Their email address is below.

I have a 1971 satoh 650g and if your tractor is anything like mine , you will need to drain the hydraulic tank under the seat ( holds about a gallon) . The screen is at the bottom of the tank . You will need to remove the large bolt holding the steel hydraulic line to get the filter out . The filter is a piece of pipe surrounded by a fine brass screen .

Milky oil, jumpy and sluggish could be air entrainment from bad suction hose/tube/fitting/pump shaft seal....No????....jumpy and sluggish kinda gives it away as air suction leak and/or cavitation.......
