Planters Need help with Dempster planter

I'm trying to get an old Dempster planter model 302, to plant sweet corn. I've enlarged the plate holes so corn will pass thru it, but not evenly, and I'm not sure what to do next.

Any help will be great!

I have a 302 also but i find same problem , so bought a reverse tine tiller
to go ahead of planter that tills real fine this helps it cover seeds better
for the planter . Also installed plates with square holes ( with closer holes )
more fits a square kernal of corn this also helped a lot , sorry thats all i
have

Here is a blurb below from Lincoln Ag. This seems to indicate plates are available for the Demster. I don't know if it applies to your particular model.
If your plates actually will interchange with JD almost anything is available. JD plates are plentiful on E-Bay as well as Lincoln Ag.
