I have a Cat HM312 mulcher, almost identical to the FAE 125 fixed tooth mulcher head.
There are two bolts that hold the teeth on. I got down to my last two teeth and stripped out two of the bolts trying to get them out. The allen head socket won't work anymore. I have been grinding on one for about 4 hours trying to get the head grinded down far enough so that the tooth falls out but it is a S L O W process on a grade 8 bolt using a small, air powered die grinder. It's all that will fit. I tried my acetylene torch but was weary of applying too much heat and tempering the tooth pocket. Does anyone have a better solution? These bolts were evidently seized with loctite when the head was built. I only have two teeth left but again, I don't feel confident using the acetylene torch though I imagine a good welder could do it. Thoughts?
Thanks! Yellow Dog
