I don't know what to do my JD 4200 HST 4x4 CUT gone in the night ya I reported it to police but I don't have the serial # for my 300CX loader or the 72 inch mid mount mower . I got the mower when I got the tractor but I got the loader second hand and I have no receipt I paid cash for it . I only had 1350 hours on the tractor and mower and the loader was mint . I have the service manual for the loader . I'm so upset that someone would steal my baby I don't know what to do I have insurance thru state farm but am afraid we don't have coverage for such a large CUT . I'm almost sick to think of the call to the insurance company . anyone gone thru this situation before and can offer advice please do

I feel your pain. My camera and money was stolen in Puerto Rico. It was worth only few hundred but it made me so mad I would kill the thief if I could get my hands on that SOB. I couldn't sleep for few nights plotting how I would remove the SOB from the gene pool.

Locked shed wouldn't stop them. They would damage the shed and steal it anyway. Keep eye on the ebay, craigs list and newspaper adds.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I definitely would not want to feel the pain and hurt that you are currently feeling. Just a thought. Do you have any pictures that were taken of the equipment, and if not, perhaps a family member or a friend might have taken some pictures without your knowledge. All the previous other posts offered sound advice that would most definitely improve your chances of recovery. Don't give up hope.

kdm004 QUOTE "I have insurance thru state farm but am afraid we don't have coverage for such a large CUT"

kdm004, Nothing worse than someone sneaking on your property and taking something that is yours + the personal security aspect. :(

I believe most insurance companies have a similar coverage statement when covering Compact tractors:

The Homeowner Policy provides coverage for your Compact Tractor on the homeowner policy in the same way it would cover a riding lawn mower as long as it is used solely to service your insured location. It is covered on your premises only, personal use only, any loss to it is subject to regular Homeowner deductible and covered for the same perils as the Homeowner policy provides.

My wife and I just switched to Liberty Mutual and their question, is it used for agriculture/farming or for a business off premises, their homeowner policy has exclusions for such activities and a specific policy covering those activities needs to be written. Another thing people should check on, coverage while the Compact Tractor is in tow..........

With regards receipts, perhaps if you or the previous owner had any of the equipment services anywhere that would have recorded the serial numbers that might be a good start, I suspect you already thought of that by now.

Have you checked all over your property? I left mine sitting in front of the shop one evening while I made a quick trip to town. Returned a half hour later and the tractor was gone. I called a couple of people who have used the tractor in the past and they didn't have it. I did a police report that evening and called the insurance the next day.

Two days later I was on the back side of my property, in an area you can't see unless you walk or drive and there was my tractor. I never have figured out who moved it on me.

A couple weeks ago I had a 21' alum. ladder, a dolly, and a sledgehammer stolen from my property. I filed a police report but since none had a serial number and I had no pictures or distinctive features to list I know I will never see them again. I would cry if my tractor got stolen regardless of wether or not it was replaced by the insurance company. I am going to install a nice security system, I know it may not keep them from steeling it but at least I have a way to fight back.

Home Owner Policy Clarification from our Liberty Mutual Agent this morning JD "Toy" coverage as he put it...... The "BOSS" (aka Wife) called this morning and reiterated we have a JD425 Lawn Tractor, JD790 CUT, JD419 Loader, JD59 SBlower and JD60" Belly Mower, the agent's response:

"As long as the John Deere “toys” are paid for in full (not leased or financed) they are covered under personal property. If not, you would need a separate policy for them, which we do not provide. The loader, snow & belly items are insured as personal property."

Apparently they will not insure/back financing which makes sense.

You had better get that in writing. I have checked with several insurance companies about my tractors, and they have all stated that a separate rider HAS to be issued for these items. They are not covered under our homeowners or our farm policy.

Same thing for items like cameras and jewlery. They all need separate coverage.

I to can confirm this. I have Allstate which only covers something like $2000 worth of lawn and garden equipment on their base policies. I had to add a rider to my policy at around $50 a year to get $20000 worth of lawn and garden coverage. Well worth it to me.

grsthegreat,

The information quoted in my last post was sent/documented via email directly from my Liberty Mutual Agent, i.e., "As long as the John Deere 鍍oys are paid for in full (not leased or financed) they are covered under personal property. If not, you would need a separate policy for them, which we do not provide. The loader, snow & belly items are insured as personal property."

The email was in direct response to an initial email sent by my wife identifying our JD CUT and all the attachments to include make/model + followed-up with a general discussion surrounding CUTs & their overall coverage. It appears Liberty Mutual may offer different coverage, we have our Home & Auto through them. The email from our agent is now in our Safety Deposit Box along with our Insurance Policies.

A lot of this varies from company to company and then from state to state. It also could be there is "very limited coverage" and they are telling you to buy additional coverage. Then some policies will cover full value for say a fire but a much lower amount if stolen.

tractorhouse (link below)
Used Tractors For Sale at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, tractors for sale, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Kubota

has a database of stolen stuff. might be worth listing.

i live near a neighbor from ****. folks have seen this guy go into there sheds and just take stuff without asking. i would say get in your vehicle more so if you are out in the sticks. and start driving all nearby roads. and see if you can spot tractor from the road. say within 5 miles of your place. maybe a little further pending on were you live. also make sure you hit all back roads as well.

if you bought tractor new, along with loader / mower. it might be possible to tract it back via dealer you bought from or possibly manufacture. to atleast obtain serial number *shrugs* bill of sales or something.

==================
EDIT: if a nearyby neighbor has same like model (does not have to be exact) as you, they might of contacted someone to come pickup there tractor to take it in for repair.

if there was any thing broken / wrong with tractor. contact local repair places. or rather, take in a piece of paper and hopefully a photo of your tractor, if not photo from internet. photo might ring better than just a phone call. for a given part repair.

if your state required the tractor to have lisence plate. something there maybe.

================
EDIT:
for craiglist seach. use www.searchtempest.com allows you to search multi cities. in one shot. it might be quick way to search for model or brand or like.

The question to ask you insurance agent when they assure you it is covered under personal property is what is the limits of my personal property? Coverage does't do any good unless the limits are high enough to cover everything. Remember personal property usually includes everything in your house except the structure itself, cloths, tv, computers, etc. When you put a pencil to it there is a lot of money in our houses. Yes if only the tractor is affected you may be fine but what about a storm that destroys house, garage, shed, etc, now everything needs replaced. My agent keeps my larger value items jewelry, guns, tractor, etc on rider policies to make sure replacement value is there if needed. For the piece of mind the expense is very little. Also I work with insurance companies daily in my profession and its not your friendly agent that makes the decisions when it comes time for a claim. The adjusters are there to save the money for the company that the agents brought in.

Just my $.02
