Hey guys! My dad and I picked up a nice nh tc 45d yesterday. It's a 2003 with 166 hrs. I need to change the oil for peace of mind. The mower come with no papers or manuals or anything. If your sitting on the mower is the oil filter on the left or right and it also looked like there were two drain plugs on the oil pan??? What filters are good to use, I wanted to try and order in bulk off the internet. What else do I need to change? i have greased all the grease nipples... also there are two levers on the floor on the left that i dont know what they do... one is a gold one by the fuel tank and the other is a little black one that is towards the back it looks like a foot brake on a four wheeler kinda haha...
anyways hope these questions arent dumb, but it's our first tractor.

Wow! Congratulations and welcome to TBN.
I can answer some of your questions, but some of them have me a bit confused, so I'll be asking questions about your questions.
Here is your question that confused me: "

tractor?
1. Engine oil drain plugs - Yes there are two drains. Because the driveshaft for the 4wd the oil pan is formed around that shaft and it takes two drains to get all the oil out.
2. Hydraulic drains - The transmission and hydraulic system share a reservoir. There are two primary drains for that (picture attached).
3. Engine oil filter - On the right-rear side of the engine below the fuel filter. If you have a FEL, the oil filter is directly behind the mounting post for the loader and easily visible.
4. Hydraulic filter - The main hydraulic filter is under the right side operator's platform between the transmission final drive and the right-rear tire. It's about a 1-liter filter.
5. HST filter - This filter is on the left side of the engine just in front of the brake pedals on the operator platform.
6. You can order filters for your tractor online from messicks.com or partspring.com. You can also buy filters at NAPA, but I'm not sure if they have air filters or not. Your air filter element is a two-part filter. The outer filter is the one most often changed. The inner filter is normally good for 1000 hours.
7. Levers - The small lever sticking up through the operator platform below the left side of the seat is a rear differential lock. You can push that down to lock both rear tires for better traction. You should not be moving when you press it down. After you start moving, you can release that lever and it will stay down until there is no torque applied to the wheels and then pop back out of differential lock by itself.
8. Does your tractor have SuperSteer? The only think I can think of that might be near the gas tank and behind the seat is the lever that selects full-time 4wd for your Sensitrak system. There is one more lever near the front of the seat that you pull up to lock the brake pedals down. This is your parking brake lever.
Farmacist suggested you get an Operator's Manual. I echo his suggestion. I could not agree more. Operating without it is just asking for problems. $40 for a manual will be the best money you ever spent. If you want to see the schedule for maintenance and lubrication, open up your hood and look at the bottom side. There is a chart there, but it is NOT a substitute for an operator's manual.
