I suddenly have a clunk in front end of drive train when I turn steering wheel 1/4 turn right or 1/4 turn left . steering works fine, but when clunk hits vibration from it can be felt in floor and steering wheel. I can also see left front wheel jerk. But... if I raise front wheels off ground with FEL there is no clunk and if I grab tire and try to move front wheels there is no play at all in front end. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like excess play in the center bolt.. might want to have someone turn the wheel while you stand in front and watch where the axle attaches to the frame

Also check your steering cyl. mounts. You might find some play there, my bx 2660 does and I have not fixed it yet. I think the bracket might be bent, I haven't looked at it in a while.

it is not the steering cyl mounts, I did check that originally, I didn't have anyone around today to work the steering wheel for me so I could check center bolt , but tomorrow I will be able to check that

Well it looks like it was the center pivot Bolt I torqued it to 15 foot pounds like the specs said and it got much better but still didn't eliminate it completely not sure if I should torque it any more than the specs say

If there is a bushing it could wallowed out. Messicks has parts diagrams online that might help you decide if something might need to be replaced.

Yeah there's a bushing in there I guess I'll have to take it apart and replace it strange though that the bolt would have to be retorqued cuz it's got a pin running through it

I do not know the physical setup (but should check, as I also have a BX2200) but things probably loosened up due to wear, and tightened back up somewhat after you retorqued the bolt to take up some of the slack.
