I have a 2000 model JD 5105 with 2 rear hyd remotes. A while back the regen valve (#2) would go down, but not up. The lever was actually bound up and would not move when I pulled back on it. It pushed down fine. It worked fine the day before.
I removed the cap off the front of the valve (#17). Inside had a lot of crud. When I removed the cap three balls (two small and one larger) and a spring came out. I am having trouble understanding exactly how this goes back together. The cap has a lip inside that is not much bigger that the outside diameter of the spool, so the small balls have to be pressed down into the spool in order to get the cap on. If I follow the service manual instructions, the small balls would press down on the middle part of the spring. Is this correct?

Thanks
