Need Help Buying new John Deere....

Is there a way to find "list pricing" on the internet, so I can figure out if I'm getting any kind of "deal"?
This is my first tractor purchase and I'm finding it worse than buying a car!
I qualify for the 0 down 0% interest program that ends next month. I'm probably going to get:
2210 with loader
Hard-Shell Canopy
Ballast Box
Also want a Rankin BFLA-1200-J forklift attachment (local dealer says I have to buy a 4010 if I want to use this attachment...I don't know why as I'm told the bucket is the same part number for 2210 as the 4010?
I don't need the forks, but I want to weld a 2 inch receiver in the center of the assembly....for moving boats around at my business and putting other attachments that I have into that 2 inch receiver.
Salesman says the 4010 is alot more tractor for only about $450 more than the 2210. I look at the engine specs and I don't see much difference. I'd like to buy fairly close to home, but I'm not comfortable paying what they are asking without knowing whether or not I'm getting at least some discount under full list!!

Go the deere website. www.johndeere.com. Go to agricultural and then tractors. Once you get to the tractor you are interested in there will be a build and price section. This will give you the msrp of the tractor. 10% off is good. 15% is better. 20-25% off is great. Anything above 25% and I think you're pretty much buying for cost.

Don't just go to one dealer. Go to a few of them even if it means takin a good drive on a Saturday. Half the fun of buying a CUT is testing them all out. Even if you have a close dealer you may find you like a dealer a ways out. Buying a ways out isn't so bad, just find out up front what his pickup and delivery costs are. As far as the list and you wanting to get a good percentage off I think you will if you shop some. The area you live in does dictate pricing. Another thinkg I would do is check Kubota and New Holland. Not to buy one cause it sounds like your set on Deere but you can use the competitors pricing to keep the Deere dealers honest. You might be surprised what the Deere salesperson will do when you start talking other brands.

If the 4021 is only 450 bucks more I would seriously look at it depending on what you are going to use the tractor for. Fill in your profile and tell us more of what you will use the tractor for and how many acres you have.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that at the 25% off point off MSRP you are basically paying dealer cost for the tractor and items such as accessories like mid-pto, dual scv, and related items.

For attachments such as FEL, MMM, etc. I have been led to believe that 20% off MSRP is dealer cost. If you or anyone else feels my calculations are incorrect I would be happy to learn otherwise.

The best thing about Deere providing it's MSRP is those figures give a prospective buyer a starting point to calculate from. I got two quotes for NH tractors but not knowing the suggested MSRP made it difficult to compare their products.

Your choice of words--year end bonus--is funny. I bought my JD 4210 on December 30th, FEL, MMM, Mid-PTO, DSCV and 3rd SCV for 75% of MSRP when the rebates were figured in.
I am sure I'm not the only person to get that kind of deal.

I can't imagine that 25% or 20% off would be dealer cost. I pretty much get a straight 23% off of anything that I buy any time, day, or week of the year. Granted I buy alot of equipment but they've got to be making money too or why even bother selling to me.

Not trying to disagree with you, but if you buy a new General Motors car using the GMO plan you are basically buying the vehicle at dealer cost. So why does the dealer bother to sell you the car? Because GM is going to pay the dealer some $$ on the side, I think the term is "holdback". I have wondered if JD does the same thing.

Given the amount of equipment you must buy, your dealer SHOULD provide a price that is close to their cost. I am sure you can get a great deal because you are much better informed about their products than most of their salespeople are and you know what a fair price is. The majority of tractor and equipment buyers would not have the experience you do.

You need to look at the hydraulic capabilities, the size of the tires, tractor weight, frame size, etc., to get a more accurate picture.

Just don't go by brochure specs.....they can be very misleading. Check each tractor model out before you make a decision.

I appreciate all the help, guys. I finally figured out how to use the Deere Website to price and configure....so I'm getting a better idea what kind of deal I am being offered.
I'm leaning heavily on the 4010 with loader. Rankin makes an
attachment that will quickly mount on the loader that I can weld a 2 inch receiver on for trailer balls, or I can quickly put forks on the attachment. I probably won't use the bucket much, but it would have come in handy last week since we had about 8 inches of snow on the ground and I couldn't move any boats into the shop as a result of the weather.
I have one more major question: What are your thoughts on the $624 extended warranty? Do I need this? I will be using the tractor mostly for pushing boats around my yard and shop area....23 footers and smaller. I'm on level ground...don't expect this to put much strain on this particular tractor. Will sometimes be picking up 500 lb. engines and moving them around.

Don is right. Do not get caught in the stat zone. There is little HP difference between the 2210 and most of the small frame 4010 series. But there is a lot of other differences. Hydraulic capacity, pre set rock shaft adjustments, more weight, more tire choices, better tires, folding Rops, full category 1 3ph Vs limited category 1. Try to do some test drives. I like my 2210 but I do have plans to trade up to a 4115. Dave

You can use a attachment for the 3ph to also do this. What is the tongue weight on one of those boats?

I should also have mentioned, it is mandatory that my receiver be on the FRONT of my tractor so that I can see to maneauver easily without having to crank my neck around.
I'm pushing boats in and out of a garage with limited side clearance so I have to be able to see well.
As for tongue weight, most will be between 75-150 lbs.
Tandem axles usually are pretty light on the front and have little weight, yet they are the hardest to steer around with a hand dolley...and thus the need for my tractor.

As I read your description of what you’re wanting the tractor for I can’t help but think that a skid steer might be a better choice. I always use my skid steer instead of tractor for moving trailers around. They are so much more maneuverable. With a skid steer the work is right in front of you instead of out past the tractor. This would help when moving parts and boats around. Also the hydrostatic control makes moving inches really easy. The standard quick attach makes switching between forks, buckets, and other attachments super fast and easy. The heavy duty loader on skid steer make snow or dirt removal really easy.

If you do try out a skid steer let me recommend the electrical over hydraulic controls like the ones that are standard on CAT and optional on most other brands including JD. They are easier for the beginner and nicer in the long run.
