Need fuel shutoff for old MF 35

I went out to start my old Massey and diesel came pouring out the bottom of the fuel tank. Seems the plastic/nylon shutoff had taken a walk. I have ordered a new one but it might take a while. Any ideas as to how to plug it in the meantime?

Any way to disconnect it/put a line on it and just drain the fuel. Then you can reuse it once fixed??

All the fuel is gone. It is about 7/16 threaded hole. It was plastic into metal. I do not want to bugger the threads so I am going Bach and forth to the store to find something to plug it with. Once plugged I will not be able to shut off the fuel but no matter
