I usually get better and faster computer advice from TBN members than I do on computer forums so maybe you can help me with this problem.

I am trying to view the newest Google map of my property since I made some changes. If I view Google maps on Firefox, Internet Explorer or Edge I get a map about 3 years old. When my neighbor views it on his computer he gets a map a few months old that shows the recent changes. When he emails me the url and I click on it I get the old map instead of the new one.

I deleted my history to clear my cache and I removed all the Google cookies that I could find on my computer and tried again and I still get the old map. I am now going to restart my computer and see what happens. Any advice?

what is his computer? a tablet / phone/ other mobile device vs a conventional computer? Some platforms automatically identify a 'mobile' device and use different video settings.. different website.. etc.

Is it possible he is running another browser.. like 'chrome' etc?

Is he viewing in Google Earth?

Next time you fire up google earth and try to look at the image, look on the top at the left for a ' clock ' symbol. Click on this to open up the ' year scale ', then click to the right to see if there is a newer image available to you. You can also use this to go back in time to look at past images. [ worth a try ]

Perhaps installing the application directly on your PC vs using the browser version in Firefox etc, may employ newer maps and explain the difference.

I was using Firefox and Internet explorer going to Google Maps not Google Earth on a 3 month old desktop using Windows 10. My neighbor has a 4 year old computer using Windows XP and with Firefox or Chrome he gets the newer map that I don't get just by going to Google Maps.

Now I just downloaded Google Earth and I can get the new map with Google Earth but still wonder why I can't get the new map just going to Google Maps.

You need to do more than delete history to clear the cache.

Thats it, as long as you checked the clear cache.

Using the same browser and browser versions, compare the initial address being used when you hover over the google/maps link, are either of you using ?output=classic? Is what is in the address field when the map is returned is it the same?. Are you both signed in to your google accounts, perhaps some differences in google or browser or browser extensions preferences? What do you find using other areas of the country address locations are yours still three years out of date? When I type into the search bar "boise id" the map that comes back is dated 2016, how about you?

In the bottom right corner of the page it says "Imagery copyright 2016 Google, Map data copyright 2016 Google" on all versions that I look at.

I have a little lightning bolt next to the image of the little yellow man that you move for street views and it will change the page from Full Maps to Lite Mode. In Full Maps it shows my house as it was in 2014. In Lite Mode it shows it as it was in October 2012.

When I go to a web site that has a Google Map on it and move it to my property it shows a 2016 image and at the bottom right corner it says "imagery copyright 2016, US Geological survey".

When I hover over my link to Google Maps it just says google.com/maps/and my gps address.

Who's your ISP? Some ISPs load cached content instead of the most recent when loading sites like Google Maps that dont change that often. You can try to change your DNS to another one like 8.8.8.8 (ipv4) which is Google's (their ipv6 is 2001:4860:4860::8888).

I don't have Chrome on my computer, just Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge.
My neighbor has Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox and all his browsers get the new map on Google Maps.

That's what I'm getting at.. Chrome..

It is interesting, you always see the 2016 copyright but can obtain 3 different periods of the image. Going through a third party link gives you the current version of the image. This would give extra weight to pursuing the DNS suggestion. My Google address is returned as 173.194.219.147. Try substituting that in place of google.com in the address bar. Google Maps and see if you still get the older image.

Yes, clicking on that link still gives me the old 2014 map.

The only thing I am noticing is when I go to something like a parking lot around my area, using the option in the LH panel to switch 3D on and off, shows no change to content. When I go to the area in your location description, switching 3D on and off the contents change completely.
So there appears to be a date related difference in your area between the 2D/3D representation. Does switching between views get you any closer to a recent image?
