I was cutting the grass/weeds etc from under the power lines yesterday and found a section of power line cable. I have mowed this area several times a year for the last four years and never hit anything. My thought is that they restrung the support cables and threw this six foot length in the grass and left it behind. Has anyone ever hit something like this and got some satisfaction from the power company?
It took a long time to untangle the cable using my plasma cutter. Working under things is something I have a hard time doing due to my bad back. I had to dismount the mower and using two tractors raise it up far enough so I could see the wrapped up cable. What a PIA. Seems the dish that holds the blades is now loose and will require me to disassemble the mower to sort out the problem. It may have damaged the spindle don't know yet.
