Hi, i have a lt 1046 that i just did an oil change without the drain tube, i couldn't find it, so i just popped the cap and turned counterclockwise and....Yes, a freakin mess, but now my oil is finally changed after 28 hrs. new. (manual says 24 hrs.) Anyway i want to get a oil drain tube for next time, i have a 23 hp kohler command, what diamater tube do i need for next time? Is it something i can buy at Home Depot or somewhere?

Yes, you can use any old tube from Home Depot or anywhere that sells plastic tubing. Get some soft/flexible tubing with a bigger OD than the tube that comes with the pitcock - the thin walled tubing tends to kink easily. Have fun! :)

Any automotive supply store such as Advance Auto, Auto Zone or O'Riely's will have a piece of tubing...all you need to do is ask for the RIGHT SIZE and they will usually have any diameter you'll need....good luck

Lowes or Home Depot carry several sizes of larger plastic tubing.

Yup. Get the soft and flexible surgical style tubing if that's the way you wanna go. It's easier to flex than clear vinyl at this I.D.

I replaced mine with a reinforced drain hose. It sticks out about 5" from the engine.

The plastic quick turn set up from the factory is JUNK.

Five responses and not one guy has answered your question!

The tube you need is 1/2" ID x 10" L.

I used the tube for the first oil change, but there is no easy way to clean the oil out from inside the tube and it continued to leak oil out of it for a day or two, so the next time I changed the oil I took a 1"x1" steel angle made a little loop out of a coat hanger on one end of it to hang on the spigot and it works just as well, if not better because now I can clean the oil from the angle and not have it run all over on the shelf!

Cub user, I just wanted to say thanks for posting the correct size oil drain tube. I tried the 3/8in tube that someone else recommended, but that did not fit at all. The correct size for the 1046 LTX is a 1/2 inner diameter. I got a 2 foot section for a buck at lowes. Worked great! Heat up the engine first though. I didn't get much out at all with a cold engine. But I started it up and let it run for 3 minutes and then drained it and it came flooding out. Worked perfect. Thanks Thanks Thanks!!
