Ford 1710
I have a Ford 1710 and the lift leaks down moderately when the engine is cut. Assuming the main seal is the culprit it does not look like too much trouble to replace.
Seal is $13 and o-rings together are $14 plus S+H.
Question: Are any special tools required? Knowledge needed to pull the parts out. Looks like the head bolts come out and then the cylinder etc. In fact this looks all to simple so I thought I壇 ask of someone who has been there.
Also, are these parts sold as a kit and is there a best buy recomendation? No rush as I won't do this for a month or so.

Welcome to TBN blue,

It is a perfectly simple task to do and no special tool is needed. Frankly it is ridiculously simple:D:D. I have couple of links below with some help. it is more information that you need but it's all good.

Ah, simple indeed. I think I'll raise the lift and tie it up to prevent the rod from falling on the inside of the cylinder and possibly scratching it. Other than the expected mess, what could go wrong. Thanks, excellent photos. I'll remember to bring my camera.

As JC said it is a simple job. My tractor is 4x4 so I had to take 2 of the bolts out of the 4wd shifter for clearance.

To avoid the mess I have done exact the opposite and lowered 3 all the way down. The push rod and the picot arm is pinned to rockshaft solidly and it is so blunt that I see no chance of it scratching the inner surface of the cylinder. just make sure the lips on the piston seal face the cylinder head. It will be tight, don't heat it up. I lubed it and tried to spread the pressure squarely and evenly. it is a one shot deal, put it in incorrectly and you'll buy another seal.
