I own a 20 acre property and a tree service & landscaping company. My primary need is a tractor to load brush and logs, onto a dump trailer. With my business, I also clear snow from parking lots, brushhog, and do light dirt work. At my property, I need a machine that can run a 6 foot tiller, small plow, box blade, and dig a small pond.

I will eventually buy a more specific machine (track loader) for loading brush, but for now my budget demands a machine that can multitask. Three years ago, I purchased a 2011 MX5100 and sold it last year, it was almost perfect. I was left wishing for more loader lift capacity, but I am sure I would do that no matter the lift capacity. I require at least one remote, 4wd, and no cab. I also don't want HST but prefer a shuttle shift.

I currently need to find a tractor quickly, as the busy season is quickly approaching. In my area, John Deere and Kubota are about my only dealer options. My budget is $20,000.00, but for the perfect tractor I am willing to go higher. My local John Deere dealer has a 5055E with 35 hours for $27,000.00, with 1 year of warranty left. New Mx5100's are about $27,000. Used Mx5100's with about 50-200 hours, run about $20,000.

Should I go with the Mx5100, a different Kubota model, the 5055, or a different Deere. Above all else it must be orange or green, it must lift at least 2000 pounds, and it must be 4wd. The positives with the deere are - already has a remote, dealer 3 miles from my house, and more loader lift. The negatives - no shuttle shift, $7,000 more dollars. The positives for the used Mx5100 - shuttle shift, $7,000.00 less. The negatives - dealer 30 miles away, 600 pounds less loader lift. Positives for the new Kubota - Full factory warranty, 0% financing, ITS NEW. Negatives for the new Kubota - will depreciate 4-6,000 quickly, $6000 more than a used one.

Thanks

I'm missing something here, you have a mx5100 that can't quite get the job done but yet you are considering buying another one just like it?

I took a high paying job, but traveled 300 days last year and I sold the tractor. I am getting back into the landscaping business (more time at home), to keep my marriage together and I need another tractor.

Wow, first time I heard of buying a tractor to keep a marriage together! Each time l buy one, I probably nudge my wife closer to divorce! ;)

The 5055E is a lot more tractor, even considering the price difference. I'd be a little worried about any of the 5xxxE series (especially from a few years ago), because they have had some mechanical issues with the hydraulics and melting gas tanks (among other things), but it has a warranty, so that helps.

Little more info, The 2013 5055E deere will cost me $27,000 with $3000 down at 2.9% apr per month for 5 years. The New Kubota with rear remote is $26,000 0 down 0% apr for 5 years. The used Kubota will be 0 down at 6%.

No, just two dealers that have been in business for 15+ years. John Deere and Kubota dealerships, are every 30 miles in OKlahoma. The nearby Massey dealer, just went under after 25 years in business.

Lots of Deere dealers in business far longer than that have been cut in recent years....if they won't sell out to a mega corp, they lose their dealership.

Haha, my mom works at a deere dealership that is in the process of selling out after 60 years in business. They are sort of being forced out.
