The glow plug light works like others have said, turn on the key and wait for the glow plug light to go off. The safety system will let it crank but shuts off the fuel solenoid unless the parking brake is set, transmission is in neutral, and the PTO is off. I have sometimes knocked a lever out of position getting in the seat and not realized it.
