I may add another acre to my finish mowing. It's time for an upgrade in power. A TC24DA would fit the bill and the wallet. The TC-18 has been a CASE STUDY in quality and reliability !!!! It will NOT be easy to part with. Need a few more HP at the pto. The 18 has 400 hours and serviced by the book, a 7106 loader, and a 48" 914 mm. I don't know what the book is on it or if I sell or trade. Dealer is working on his offer. What do you guys think the numbers should look like ? dass

I was quoted $15,500 at a NH dealer for a 24HP W/FEL but not sure of the model. G

G, That's the figure I got. The deciding factor will be in the value of the TC-18. I'LL have more to work with next week after I hear from the dealer. I could take or leave the new style hood and grille.......BUT I ain't go'n to church with it.

David, I don't know why we put up with this formula, but auto and tractor dealers always offer us wholesale for our cars/tractors and then charge retail for the new ones. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

You didn't mention if your TC18 is hydro, but assuming it is, I'd guess the trade-in will be $8000 to $9000. The dealer will then be able to price your tractor under $10,000 for resale.

You seem to have a pretty good handle on the price of the TC24, but since you don't particularly care about the looks, why not go all the way to the TC30 so you can have lots more power in the loader and the tractor? The price will be about the same as the TC24. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Isn't this what we should expect. All retailers have to buy at wholesale, so they can mark it up some and sell at retail and make a profit. If they gave us retail for our trade, and had to recondition the trade and sell it at the same price it wouldn't take many deals to put them out of business.

Spoken like a true salesman.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If they take in a trade and don't have to recondition the tractor then it's a profit on the sale and a large profit on the used sale. That's two profit opportunities in my book.

I have no intention of denying the dealer a fair profit. I just don't see why we "put up" with this by trading in our perfectly maintained equipment for sometimes thousands of dollars less than it's worth. If we advertise and go to a little trouble ourselves, it can be very rewarding in the pocketbook.

So I'm not blaming the dealer for wanting and deserving to make a profit. I just think I don't owe it to any dealer to give him two opportunities for profit (three if it's a trade-in to the same dealer I bought it from). I can at least try to take one of those profit opportunities and put it to work for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Recent example: I have a very good friend who had a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup that was garage kept and only had 35K miles. The truck was tight and spotless. He got the "hots" for a new vehicle and bought a Ford Escape. Well, he never even posted his truck for sale on the company bulletin board. He took it in and they offered him less than $1500 because they said it would sell very low to a wholesaler. When he took his Escape back to the dealer a week later, they had his pickup on the lot for $5395. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif They probably won't get quite that much for it, by I'm sure he could have doubled the $1500 he got for it. He was in a hurry for that new car and just didn't take the time to save some money. I can't hold that dealer at fault though, not one bit. He made an offer and my friend accepted. That's a deal, nothing wrong with that. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

jinman, I just got back from window shopping at another dealership, about 20 miles away. He had a TC-30 and a 24DA,side by side. The 30 is a lot of tractor for the money, you're right. I'd say it's a toss up.....right now.

My TC18 with a 12LA has been so satisfying that I'd have to go all the way to a TC33DA, with the new 14LA loader, to make it worth the trade up. The TC30 would give me almost as much PTO HP, but the 7108 loader on the TC30 isn't a whole lot better than the 12LA on the TC24DA -- although either would be better than the 7106.

Gee, it's easy to spend someone else's money...but I think I'd ask for a price difference on the TC33DA, as well.

That's OK, OD, I asked for it and I got it. My rear mounted snow blower will be too narrow for a TC-30, it's only 52". I would think a 30 would be around 58". I'll know more tomorrow when I talk to the sales rep., and sort things out.
