Hello everyone - I am in need of finding a company that makes the gear box on the front of a +60" wide front mounted snow blower. The gear box does 2 things - reduces the RPM since the mid mount typically spins faster than 540 rpm and it also changes the rotation. If any one knows a mfg or where I can buy one, please let me know. I will only be sending 24 HP to the blower therefore I do not need a super heavy duty gear box.
Thanks
Scott

Scott,
My thoughts are that if your blower is mounted on the loader, Hydraulics is the way to go. That way there would be no worries about lifting too high and throwing the pto shaft off. I originally wanted to run hydraulics for mine, but found that I didn't have near enough flow to do it. If I remember correctly, I needed an absolute minimum of 15 gpm to run a blower. I could have got a pto pump with enough capacity but already had most of the parts for the shaft drive.

Just for ideas, here is a link to a rear/front mount conversion I did last year on a much larger tractor.

I did another a few years ago putting a Cub blower on an Allis Chalmers B, using the loader only for lifting it. Here's a photo and if you want to see the thread, search the IH Cub forum for-- Cub blower on an Allis---learning experience----I couldn't get the link to work.
That's when I learned the hard way that Cub PTO's run backward. It made a great little snow sucker. The original thread on the build is on the old machine builders site and no longer accessible.

and it also changes the rotation.

Are you sure you need to do that????? Think it through.....

Be sitting down if you find a gearbox - those things ain't cheap.
