Anyone know of a good source for a good rebuilt longblock?
Seems my buddies main cap had one nut come off and the other gave loose.Right out the side of the block.....

I think New Holland has run a new production series of these engines for the replacement aftermarket:
about 8 years ago, i worked at a contractor. A 7710 they had, seized its engine. The brand new engine they put in, had the Fiatagri logo on it (NH uses the Fiatagri logo with Ford colour, to keep peace with both camps)

Maybe this was the 5 liter 4 cylinder of the TS models, based on the 7.5 liter powerstar, but i dont even know if they have the same SAE bellhousing connection.

Well we located a rebuilt long block. It came complete with intake, exhaust manifolds and injectors and pump. They even attached a flywheel and starter and fired it up before we left the shop.
90 day warranty. Now if we can get a rainy day to put it in..
Had the turbo rebuilt, clutch and pressure plate all redone. Even bought a new PTO drive gear.

How much did that cost versus buying another 9700 and having a parts tractor?

Not a fair question unless you find a 9700 with a fresh motor. They already had 1 bad engine, they didn't need two.

Yes it is they had a tractor with a rod out the side----some c/a and roll bar tractors are selling for 3 to 5000 dollars in the south a good crank and block is worth over half of that!!!

These engines are "parent bore" e.g. the liners are not replacable.
This means that good blocks are scarce. Old 1980s fords sometimes had cavitation problems, mostly affecting the liners. Thats why good used ford blocks are scarce.
A trader here in Holland, has been selling new 4 and 6 cylinder Ford engines for years, but i think his stocks ran dry, i dont see him advertising anymore since a year or 2.
