In a previous post concerning my front tire rupture I asked if anybody knew of a replacement I could obtain locally.

Well, so far I can't seem to find one locally so I'm hoping one of the fine dealers here has one in stock or can order a new one for me. Please reply or PM me. the ruptured tire is a LU HE 6.50-16, 8PR.
Thanks,

Tim

Try the John Deere and Yanmar forums too Tim. The JD1020 (made by Yanmar) came with three front tire options, one of them was 6.50x16 eight ply.

Did you not get my email about miller tire? They carried a 6ply in stock... less than 100$, not including shipping..

Hi Soundguy!

Yes, I read your reply about the 6 ply from Miller. I thank you very much for helping. I may go with the Miller tire if I can't find an 8 ply.

I know I'm really rough on my tractor front end . My FEL/Grapple is always pushed to the limits of the releif valve. I'm ripping up trees and brush and carrying heavy logs. This little tractor was not made for this abuse! I suspect my tire was blown out due to exceeding it's limits.

I wonder if an 8 ply Chinese tire is any tougher than a quality 6 ply.

I bet a 7-16 might still be within the front tire lead specs but we'd have to have a few measurements and the gear ratio of our tractor to be sure. I don't know how wide our rims are either.

I measured the circumference of my tire and it's about 91", without air. The wheel is (I Think) 5". Some of the 7-16 tires I've seen have a 94" Circumference. I don't know if they rate the circumference by measuring the outer lugs or the actual surface area of tire. Could also have difference when filled with air.

maybe somebody with some tire spec experience will comment.

Rolling circumference necessarily includes the lugs, and assumes correct air pressure. But you're measuring the hard way. Put a chalk mark on the side of one of the bottom lugs, one that is directly perpendicular to the ground. Then make a mark on the ground. Roll the tire forward till that chalk mark makes one full revolution. Mark the ground again. Measure the distance between the two marks. Rolling circumference
