Narrow Skid Steer

/ Narrow Skid Steer #11
Hi Rich--My Case 1816 is 30 years old, the wheels are dished so the width can be narrowed to 36", or 40+ at the more stable setting. 16 hp gas is not enough engine, the next generation was 18 hp gas. Get a diesel, unless the barn is not well ventilated. Newer diesels burn fairly clean, especially the Kubota engines that are in many small skid steers. Note the small wheels on the 45X and 46X Bobcats. How rough and how soft is the path to the manure pile? Search on e-bay to see the age and variety of models. I didn't say buy. Search for "skidsteer" and "skid steer", sort by price from high to low. For low ceilings, look at the stand-on models made for landscapers. You stand-up on a step that is 6 inches off the ground--no rollbar needed. Lawnsite.com has extensive postings about skidsteers. Joe
Compost?--Bin there, dung that.

How much do you clear? Bobcat makes a tracked loader you stand or walk behind, as do a few other manufacturers. I know alot of older bobcats are also very small(but are probably more dangerous)

My RC 30 is a work horse. I run it on concrete 80% of the time and the track performance is much better than tires. I had rented tire machines in the past but then 2 years ago I rented an RC 30 at Home Depot. I bought one the next day. I have over 1600 hours and I will run the tracks another 400 @least. The only wear is cosmetc (nicks and cuts). This wear doesn't effect the RC 30's performance one bit. The higher price
(tracks vs. tires)
is 100% worth going with.
