I got a nail into a front tire on My NX6010 that is filled with Rim Guard.

what is the procedure for repair?

Can I drill it out and plug it, or must I break the wheel down and patch it like a bias ply tire?

I would sure try the plug first, what do you have to lose? I wonder if it will work, the plugs have an adhesive coating.... Probably should roll the tire where the hole is on top, let it sit for a few hours to drip dry internally. Let us know!!

Rim guard is non corrosive so i don't see what the problem with a plug would be I'd it holds the pressure. Calcium you don't want on your rims between the tube and tire/rim, but you don't have that issue.

What I'm hoping for is the best practices on a professional level, not guessing.

I would suggest that you specify that you only want professionals to respond in you original post. Sorry I took the time to click on your thread. I am unsubscribing next.

I thought I made myself clear when I asked, "What is the procedure for repair?"

In other words, how do the equipment tire pros do it?

If asking for the correct procedure is offensive, then I don't know what to make of your reaction.

Mr. Oracle,

It's a small hole in a tire. You have three options. 1) plug the tire. 2) patch the tire. 3) discard tire and replace with new tire.

It's obvious your deity / god has let you down or you would received the foreknowledge to swerve and miss said nail on the trail.

I will stop bowing before your highness now and will be leaving.

People: asking for the procedure that pros use (best practices) is not grounds to take offense or make attacks against my person. I really don't know and simply wished to learn to know the procedure.

For example: If equipment tires aren't radials, a plug will not hold.

Clearly i shouldn't have bothered to ask a simple question on this forum and I should have waited until Monday and called RDO.

You STILL just don't get it.:confused3:
You seem to think asking: 'what the procedure is' to repair a front tractor tire is eliciting only professional answers, then you're definitely in the wrong place/forum/website.
Sometimes one may get a pro's opinion on some question; less often than member's thoughts, own methods/techniques, etc.
You want pro only best practices, go to a professional truck tire repair and give members here a break from your inability to understand how members here tick. JMPO.
