M-F 231S, 2003. I have this strange valve located on top of the transmission, in front of the seat. Two hydraulic lines go from the mystery valve to a two position control on the RH fender. Two lines go from the control to QDs on the rear RH fender.

I wish to install a hydraulic top link and operate it with the existing hydraulic hardware.

The Mystery valve is painted and likely corroded and will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Photos show the hardware in question.

Do I have the necessary stuff to operate the hydraulic top link?

Also, where can I procure the needed O-rings and gaskets to repair the Mystery valve?

I'm a city boy rookie to this tractor thing so, thanks in advance for the assistance.

I'm guessing here!!! First one, block on top, looks like a flow control.

The rest, valve and connections should be just fine and most likely shouldn't have any problems.

Why do you think there is a problem? Is it leaking oil?

OK, I removed the mystery valve, TS300. It was frozen with paint and some corrosion. It now works smoothly without leaks. I recently installed a hydraulic top link with check valves. The cylinder will extend out to the limit of travel but will not retract.

I understand that the MF 231S has some hydraulic limitations and the TS300 diverter valve allows fluid flow either external or to the 3 point lift arms but not both simultaneously.

The mystery valve must be operated and the draft control operated in order to furnish fluid flow to the top link cylinder. But, no matter what I do, the cylinder does not retract.

Help...I don't want to get off the tractor and screw the manual top link every time an adjustment is needed.

Do I need another control valve to get the cylinder to operate in both directions?

From the original link about the valve: "...Three position spool, forward position allows one-way (push) for single acting cylinder. Center position allows operation of the 3-point arms and the rear position will feed power to a 4 way control valve for two way (push-pull) operation of double acting cylinder...."

Can you make the valve move in the other direction? I assume you got it in the forward position, need to move it into the rear position. Does it move forward and back?

teg, thanks for keeping up with this thread. It seems I am double posting about the same issue here and in the hydraulics form. So, I'll cease the posting here regarding this issue and continue the thread in the Hydraulics forum. I'll meet you over there....
